This book is hilarious and frustrating at the same time. There are sections where I laughed out loud reading it, which I hardly ever do. Other times I wanted to stop reading because I was getting so sick of the stupidity of some of the characters. Heller does a great job of using style to get his message across - it is at times an absurdly written story to reflect the absurdity of war.

Obviously I will be journeying through this for a long time. I had been using the Devotional Bible by Max Lucado, but prefer this edition. I like the footnotes, explaining the historical context in which it was written, who it was intended for and why. It helps me to put it into a framework for my life. Reading concurrently with the "Don't Know Much..." text, which attempts to put some of the same information as the footnoting in a very colloquial style. Amusing and informative, maybe a little irreverant at times.

I like Archer. Not deep or particualarly memorable once you are finshed, but they are pretty well written and good page turners. I would recommend anyof his books for some fun, light reading.
