I actually read these stories a couple of years ago, but I really enjoyed them. I would recommend if you enjoy these you check out Laurie R. King's Beekeeper's Apprentice series (Mary Russell series).
A lot of fun!

I just don't get what all the fuss is all about, but maybe the problem is that I don't really like Russian literature.

Wendy Burden grew up the great-great-great-great granddaughter of Cornelius Vanderbilt. Her family was loaded to the gills, and she outlines the privileged lifestyle she grew up with. Think Gatsby meets Chelsea Handler. She's also acerbic to the point of hillarious, from dogging her mother for being such a tan-freak(she likens her to a rotisserie chicken at one point) to trying to figure out how to try to get noticed by her male relatives, who competely ignore her for the simple fact she's a female. It brings you back to a time when this was the 'norm' in many households, as it was the 50/60's frame of mind that the men folk were the ones who ruled the roost and women were just scenery. The Vanderbilts/Burdens were quite the bunch. You get a quick sense of how Wendy, a strong willed intelligent female, managed to survive in this madcap madhouse- by pretending she was Wednesday Addams. A down-to-earth, witty, and heartwarming at parts(namely dealing with the death of her grandfather, one of the family that would just never accept her as anything other than a spare(instead of a heir). I could easily see Wendy writing a self-help book(sarcastic, of course).

This is a fun thriller set among Hedge Fund managers during the financial crisis of 08, and featuring a female hitman. Great read for what is left of the summer.

Devoured this in under half a day! Finally a teen vampire series that does not sound as idiotic as the House of Night series.

I got this book from a Goodreads contest (thanks!) and was surprised at how much I liked it. It's a sweet story about three British teens who meet a young Ugandan refugee named Crow, a girl with an incredible talent for fashion. As the girls get to know their new friend's past, they want to help. The story combines fashion drama with a well-researched take on the refugee experience. For a YA novel, it's surprisingly socially aware and doesn't use Crow as a prop - she has her own character growth moments throughout the book. It's not the best-written YA by far, but it's a nice story with likable characters (I particularly loved the narrator's fashion sense, which out-crazies the immortal Claudia Kishi).
