Well what a surprise: Pern is saved again. Actually we only got to the point where they are ready to fight again. The next book, no doubt, will continue the battle. Why do I waste my time? The books are delightful and soapoperaish> (Is that a word.)The protagonists have a challenge to overcome and by wit and determination win out.

3.5 stars. A great, short M/M paranormal romance with excellent world building and two very sexy MC's. Thane is a soldier in the war against androids. When we meet him he is recovering from the massacre of his squadron, suffering from survivor guilt and feeling lost and alone. His superiors send him to a spa to recuperate and while he's there he spies Suresh, an elf, legendary and forbidding beings who sometimes aid humans in their war. But Suresh is in danger and Thane has to make a choice whether to help or do nothing. I really liked the world the author created and am left with a great curiosity and desire to know more. Putting together two distinct themes, the 'rise of the machines' and the 'noble fae assisting humans in their battles' is an unusual idea but one that works very well in this story. Thane and Suresh's passion is smoking hot. I'm impressed by this author's imagination and I'm looking forward to more M/M stories in the future (preferably full-length).

So, Simi loaned me this great book with the advice that it shows a lot of how things were. . .and how it kind of helps people like me see how people from the mainland, and I was telling my brother about it. . .and he was like "oh yeah, that book. . .I read part of it." Turns out my mom bought it the first time she visited, loved it, and has had it on her shelf for something like 4 years. How funny. Anyway it's great so far.

Well, I sort of read it. Got to page 200 and realized that for a "blow-off steam", total free-time book - it just wasn't all that enjoyable. Not LOL funny like I want a Meg book to be. So I jumped ahead and read last three chapters.
