I really liked this book. I rate it along the lines of "The Hunger Games". It's written in the 3rd person, so you get to see what everyone is thinking. I think it is written well and it's interesting to see the battle between heaven and hell out in the open in a world that is barely hanging on. It's obvious that trapping demons is in Riley's blood and that she is a pivotal piece in the war against hell. The 2nd book in this series will be released in the fall and right now that is too long of a wait for me.

Good, but I liked the Mickey Mouse version better.

The Broken Blue Line is a book that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. I love mysteries with suspense, and a little bit of romance thrown in for some smiles and laughs. I have to say that The Broken Blue line did not disappoint me. I found the characters very endearing and able to appreciate them. I did find myself confused when I first started reading the book. I was getting the characters confused. The Broken Blue Line is about Internal Affairs and crooked cops. Those styles of books are always very interesting reads. When I read books like this I always visualize it in real life and not just being fiction. Most of these books I feel are based on some actual facts. Turner is a memeber of IA and soon becomes the focus of an investigation. I found it interesting how the members of his squad were divided about him. Turner's partner and friend, Reggie and Miller are the ones who want to help Turner prove his innocence and at the same time capture the real cop that is their prime suspect. Reggie is the one that doesn't mind breaking the rules and circumvention authority to get to the truth. Miller is the wise craking one that doesn't like authority. Turner, Reggie and Miller work well together and make the best IA team even though the one boss hates them. I hope to read more books by Connie Dial.

The 32-page bibliography alone is worth three stars. An excellent addition to any mythology library.

A novel plot. It could have been better written, but I did enjoy it and it's 3 sequels.

This story sounded so great. Here's the thing: the narrator can't stay on topic. Let's cover three different time periods in one paragraph, every single paragraph. And seriously, who talks like that? It is super frustrating. Also, please tell me one more time how your wife is always the most beautiful person in a room. Please. Anyway, I do want to know what happened. I may try to plod my way through, but for now this is getting shelved.

Part ripping yarn, part social psychology experiment, part metaphor for graduate school -- this is the most IN-CREDIBLE book that I've ever read. It is insaaaaaannnneeeeee!!!! But even though the whole time you are reading it, you are thinking to yourself -- #$(*&@$%(*waaahhh!!! -- the writing is remarkably restrained and pithy, putting you right in the moment without distracting you from what's going on. You'd almost think you were reading Updike, except the people in the story are real, and they are really trying to sail 1,000 miles in open sea in a 20 foot open-topped boat, and deciding whether or not it's worth it to slide down a fog-shrouded mountaintop to be smashed against rocks or fly off the edge of a cliff. Alfred Lansing tells it straight, with lots of quotes from the sailors' diaries, and brilliant structuring. I hope he got some kind of prize for this, since it kicks so much ass. !!!More exclamation points!!! !!!!!

Wonderful story about the girl, who is new in class, misunderstands the teacher’s assignment and wears her fiesta dress to the school instead of bringing something small about your culture to put into the bucket. She is brave to tell to her class the story about her fiesta dress. I really like this book; it encourages the students to be confident and proud of who you are and where you came from. Great multicultural book for the classroom.

This one was not as good as Probable Future...if you haven't read that one, I'd start there.
