This is one of the my staple cookbooks. I eat mostly vegetarian fair and this book has so many recipes. Easy to make fare and it explains the different kinds of cooking methods and just makes cooking fun. It's a big heavy book and mine is full of dogears and stains from using it so much.

A nice piece of escapist fantasy. (Book 4 of 5)

This review comes from a second reading (finished on 8.3.13). I was blown away by the sci-fi in this the first time, and I can see why (Heinlein anticipates the Internet, modern news coverage, etc., with pretty stunning accuracy). If you do read it, read it for that. What does not hold up well are his attitudes about sex and gender. Friday, the main character, is female, and that's where this book really breaks down in a number of places. It was just too obvious the writer was male, and very much a white, heterosexual male. Heinlein seems to think that once we get rid of the problems of STDs and unwanted pregnancy, sex will simply be a pleasure humans will engage in freely without hesitation. He envisions polygamous communal marriages, etc. What he actually ends up doing is telling me much more about his own sexual hang-ups than he probably intended to. There is a rape in this book I could have skipped, and I wish he had.

This fascinating biography of a contemporary ninety-two year old is told by following the entries in her teenage diary which was found in an old trunk in a dumpster in a fashionable New York City neighborhood. The talented dumpster-diver and author surprisingly found that the diary's author was still living and full of the spirit and spunk she oozed as a young girl. A maveric in her tastes and talents, her diary takes us through the late high school and college years of a priviledged Manhattenite growing up in exciting early 1930s New York City. Ms Koppel does a good job of making this more than just a wade through a coming-of-age diary. She breathes life into all the diary's characters as she leads us through this tell-all page turner.
i am really enjoying this series... and the audible presentation.. so why 4 stars.. first. the first time i tries to read the book i think i got confused. many grpups of ambassadors find themselves througjput Europe and i got confused as to who was wear. i ended up putting the book down and it took years and a restart to finish it. but i dont exac5ly hold this book to that... i do note that it.lost a bit of the flair book 1 had by seperating some.couples and changing.some.points of.view. second. The.first.book had a romantic streak right beside the eviceral one of finding themselves transposed in time. this one took awhile before recapturing that feeling. ultimately this is my thoughts however. the book still rocks and i do llook forward to the next!

This book was great! Though there were times I wanted to strangle the main character because she got me so frustrated with her poor judgement. But I guess that's a sign of a well written book when it pulls at your emotions like that. Great read!!

Also slightly boring but necessary to the overall plot.
