While the philosophizing toward the end got a bit tedious (the actual "footprints of God" part),t his book has some very interesting themes about artificial intelligence. I really liked the idea that the researchers in the book bypassed the issue of artificially approximating intelligence by simply finding a way to replicate the human brain.

I find Bujold's writing quite rich and engaging. The story of Dag & Fawn continues in this book, describing how Dag's lakewalker kin, peers, colleagues and acquaintances react to his marrying a farmer woman. Prejudice and distrust run deep between and among the farming people and the magic wielding lakewalkers. The story is part heated romance, part fantasy / magic battle quest and part literary overview of human nature. Dag's magical talents are revealed to be greater than either the reader or the character may have been led to believe, as is Fawn's steadfast commitment. There is no closure in this part of the ongoing story. I'll definitely go on with the remaining parts. I suspect the story arc will be similar to that of The Prydain Chronicles and The Lord of the Rings, though Bujold may surprise me.

The main character of this series has the glamorous, rich-and-famous lifestyle of the private school students in the Private series, but with a twist. Best of all, the Hollywood Life books steer clear of sex, language, and violence, which you asked us to avoid.

This book is much like most of other Nicholas Sparks books. He has been blessed with the gift of writing stories which make women cry, believe that true love will be found despite the obstacles of time and space, and does this all in a book most people can easily read in a day. People who complain about this book should remember this: it's Nicholas Sparks. Yes, he's sappy and cheesy and all those other things, but he has an audience that also loves his books. Most of his stories have a similar style and theme. Some days that's all you really want or need.

This had all the makings to be a really great book but unfortunately the recipe wasn't quite right. Allen seemed like she was lining things up to be a big surprise at the end but it was all very predictable. I feel like everything just happened too quickly in this book, if things were actually kept a mystery and the truth was revealed at the end, it would of been better. Maybe if the story went back and forth from present to past, it would of made it more interesting as well. I read her other 3 books (Garden Spells is my favorite) so I was eager to read this one but was left disappointed. It makes me sad that it had so much going for it to be a good book. Overall it felt a little unorganized and a bit rushed and wish more time was spent with this story to make it work better. It did have some redeeming qualities that made me continue reading. I love how she adds a bit of magic to each book she makes and yet it still has a more realistic feel to it. I did like how we heard the thoughts of various characters and liked the romance in it. Like I said it did have all the pieces that I enjoyed, they just didn't come together quite right for me.

Augusten Burroughs has a high-paying adversising job in NYC. He also has a bad drinking problem. When his boss tells him he needs help, he enters rehab. Burroughs's writing reminds me a little of David Sedaris. You'll laugh, you'll cry. I definitely plan to read more by this author.

I loved the first 2/3 and liked the last 1/3. On the other hand, I liked the provocative nature of the last third. Amazing story. Makes me interested in Laura Bush even more.

Once again, someone found some scraps of parchment with the name of Judas and the whole concept of Christianity is therefor attacked. Dr. Ehrman starts out by saying that the writings were not by Judas nor probably written by anyone who knew Judas. He then goes on to say that they were probably gnostic papers and then proceeds to attack the four gospels in the New Testament, tries to prove a coverup by he Church, debunk the concept of a Christ or Messiah, all on a scholarly basis. The fact that Christains believe in the Messiah has a great deal more to do with the faith of the followers. This can never be proven or for that matter disproven by Scholars and Historians. What amazes me the most is that the book is about a newly founf "gospel" which consists of scraps (illustrated in the book), but the book does not say what they contain. Once you get past his three chapters of introduction, every chapter is a repeat of the one before it realing nothing.

I really don' like this book. The kid looks creepy - like Sid from Toy Story or something. And don't we all hate it when a kid says 'no' all the time, but here the parent is constantly saying it and it's annoying. I'm sure there is truth to this book and the author has written it for that reason and for kids living like this. Sad. Sorry, I just don't like it.
