I picked this book to read because I wanted to read something GOOD. I looked on Amazon and at a bunch of book reviews, and this book had the highest ratings with the MOST ratings. And it was good. I wish I would have read it in like 2 sittings instead of stretching it out over a couple of weeks. Would definitely read again.

This was a really fun read, and I enjoyed the opportunity to discover some authors I may not otherwise have ever found. I particularly loved If You Leave, Impulse Control and Wild Passion. I look forward to reading more from all of these authors. I would highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys paranormal romance...at .99 this anthology is a steal!

There seems to be a bit of trend going on in YA right now. Here we have The Book of Blood and Shadow that takes place partly in Prague. There's Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor which also takes place in Prague. Most recently on the YA scene is Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo which again takes place in Eastern Europe/Russia. Interesting eh? The Book of Blood and Shadow tells the story of Nora a high school student that is taking part in a Latin translation project at a local college with her friends Chris, Adriane and Max. After long hours together in the library and encouragement from lovebirds Chris and Adriane, Max and Nora start dating. This is an aspect of The Book of Blood and Shadow that I was fairly impressed with. I didn't feel like it was an insta-love situation. Their relationship seemed genuine and realistic. The lives of the foursome are shattered when they are attacked for what they have begun to learn in their Latin translation of an old and mysterious book. Max disappears and a cryptic note to Nora says that he is in Prague and needs help. Adriane and Nora runaway from a school trip to Paris and search Prague for Max. They become embroiled in a centuries old mystery and battle over control of a device said to channel God. I really enjoyed this book. It was full of twists and turns that I wasn't expecting. I read so many mysteries and thrillers that it's pretty hard to surprise me, but there were a few at the end that got me. This book is appropriate for most YA. It might be a little advanced for under 16 just because a lot of it was in other languages and there was a great deal of historical information being thrown at the reader. However, because of that, I think a lot of adults would probably enjoy this book too. I also highly recommend the audiobook. The reader did an excellent job with all the foreign languages and if you're a reader like me, and tries to sound them out, she saved me from that laborious task!

Another win from First Reads! This book is everything I wish James Bond books could be: fast-paced, exciting, well-written, and full of twists, turns and danger. I couldn't put this book down. As much as I love the book, I'm not a fan of the final few pages. However, I'm hopeful for resolution in future installments.

Twisted is pretty...well...twisted. Tyler's struggles at school as well as at home will speak to many young adults who deal with abuse, bullying, and trying to fit in. What I like about Laurie Halse Anderson's books is that she really gets into the protagonist's head and lets the reader feel trapped in the book. I also like her books because she writes about characters who take horrible situations and somehow find a way to cope and become better from the experience (at least in the two books I have read). Though the novel is at times uncomfortable and graphic in nature, I found that the message shines through the raw elements. NOT A READ FOR YOUNG READERS...probably best for juniors or seniors in high school.

Cengiz Han’a Küsen Bulut - Cengiz Aytmatov TrendKitaplar Kütüphanesi

This tale is further proof that truth is better than fiction. Tauted as the "crime of the century" I knew nothing of these people or this case when I found this book on the hotel shelf. But who wouldn't be drawn to the tale of the most powerful architect in New York at the turn of the century (1900), America's first "It" girl teenager, and a rich socialite crazy about both of them. Throw in wild parties, sex and murder and I'm hooked. Some of the language is pulled directly from this post-Victorian era, so at times I had to resort to the dictionary. Intriguing and well-researched.
