Back when I did Books On Tape for the visually impaired I was tasked to handle this book. I already knew the book well and loved it. But when I had to read that book aloud, in a dark room by myself, it brought a new level of fear from the text. There is something about this book (and of course the movie) that elicits chills like no other. If you're looking for a real scare...let this be that book you hold off until you know you're ready for some fear.

I love Atwood's ability to create interesting characters. I am not usually a fan of the short story as there is not enough time to care about the characters, but Atwood did a fantastic job of changing up voice and style throughout these stories to keep me engaged.

Will definitely open your eyes, often in a humorous way, to many problems with this world. It also may challenge the way you, personally, view/think about somethings (namely religion and science, but others as well). Not for those who won't understand the meaning behind what Vonnegut says, but it's not difficult to figure out. Five stars! If you challenge what he says instead of just taking from it what you want to, you will be frustrated forever and loathe the novel (and possibly Vonnegut himself).

I was sad to see another one of Mead's series come to an end, but was happy for Eugenie to get her happy ending! I thought this book was really good, though not up to the bar that I am used to when reading Mead's other writings. In this series I thought Eugenie was a great, strong heroine that stood up for what she believed in and did what she did could do to the bet of her ability (except the end..meh). Mead always makes great heroines that people can relate too, one of the many reasons I love Ms. Mead's writing! Quick summary, in this book we find Eugenie quite pregnant and is dealing with the reality that everyone is still after her twins because her son is the prophecy that no one wants to see happen. Forced to go into hiding in the real world until they are born she ends up in Tennessee (I'm pretty sure), staying with another shaman that her father knows. While there she doesn't interact much with the gentrys and what is happening in her other life. So once the twins are born and she has to leave them to see what is happening with the gentry she is in for a shock. A major chill has taken over, leaving everything frozen and desolate. Her and the usual gang, even Kiyo, go out to figure out what is happening in their world and fix it so everyone can be safe, including her family. Along the way her and Dorian have some great moments! That for sure made me happy, it was great to see Eugenie grow and realize that its okay to have people help her and care for her. And of course Dorian was great, he always is great. He really changed for the better for her and I was so happy that she finally realized this! Mini spoiler! (view spoiler) All in all, this book was a great conclusion to a very good series and I am sad to see it end but am more excited to see Mead has in store for future stories. Definitely recommend this series!

This was an interesting look into 1950's Ireland and America. Written by a man I was impressed at the detail he was able to put into the clothing, etc. (I'm not trying to be sexist)

This book is amazing. I can't believe that this is a true story. To me, it's more intense than Alive. For anyone to have ever gone through such horrible trauma and not give up on life is an incredible testament to character, I envy Louie Zamperini.
