Olivia Hughes acts in commercials while at the same time maintaining a semi-popular existence as a teenager at her high school. This all comes crashing down around her ears when she runs into a bout of fierce acne and soon enough she's fighting for her acting career as well as boyfriends and her social status. Good story along the lines of The Winnie Years and The Earth, My Butt and Other Big Round Things. Answers the question of what's more important in a teenage girls life.. Quick read and though it's definitely more "teen" than "tween", I think any girl around fourteen would enjoy reading this book and even sympathize with Olivia, I know for me a couple of things struck home about my own teenaged years (not the commercial acting, obviously).

I always love a Jodi Picoult story, and this was no different. However, it was hard to like Charlotte when she insisted on playing martyr & couldn't see the way her decisions affected everyone in the family. Stop reading after the court case ends....the last chapter was awful!

I adore this book. It's my favourite Judy Blume book, and has been since I first read it sometime around the age of 12. I totally get that some young people won't relate to this book, especially today. But I completely did when I was twelve, and I still do now. Read it if you're an outcast clever teenager.
