Told from Journal entries autopsies of zombies to find a cure I love books that I written in the form of journals, letters, etc. So I had high hopes for this book. Not paying much attention to other reviews. I guessed the ending at beginning without reading any spoilers or the last page of journal entries first. And overall was not entertained. All I got out of this is a new way to call out of work. Tell my boss I have ANSD the virus that causes zombiism.

This book sucks! Read it if you want to get angry and/or incredibly depressed.

This is one of my all time favorites. I could read it again and again. The characters are so alive and the conflict is timeless.

It was a good read. The previous one left some nasty images in my mind so I postponed reading this one for a while, but I enjoyed. It was very vivid and the story is going into an interesting place. Very Clarke-style. Can't wait to read the next one.

I loved reading these short stories. It reminded me of my high school literature classes. It was fun to read about the Jazz Age. I love F. Scott Fitzgerald.

I liked this book just as much as I did The Da Vinci Code.

07/19/2010 Just reread this for book group and liked it just as much as the first time. I was struck by the somewhat stark prose. My husband says it is because it is written first person, but I think it is just appropriate - Katniss's voice fits her very well. It is descriptive, but not flowery. The gift of bread in the arena makes me cry - the kindness, the gratitude, the sorrow. 06/29/2009 Wow. This is a post-apocalyptic story. The country of Panem consists of the Capital and 12 districts. One way the Capital reminds the citizens of their subservience is thru the Hunger Games, held every year. One boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 are chosen from each district to participate in the Games, which are a fight to the death - the last one standing wins. The winner is set for life and their district receives gifts for a year - mostly food, which is precious in most districts. The citizens are required to watch the televised games and celebrate in them. I liked the writing style and the story was engrossing to me. (I read past a good stop point last night, so stayed up LATE - or early, depending how you look at it - to finish. ugh.) It evoked a range of emotions. I like that to happen with a book. My only complaint is that I didn't know this is going to be a series (at least one more book), until the end when it says "End of Book One." The main story here was finished, but everything else was left hanging. There are 2 story arcs that I imagine will be the over-arcing story lines: Will the districts be able to finally mount a successful attack on and overthrow the Capital, and What will happen between Katniss and Peeta and Gale.

This was my brother's and sister's book. They are in their 60's now. We all read it and it is being handed down with all of the other childrens' books at my mothers, to my niece for her two little daughters. It is a cute book.

Ditto - all good in this book. I'm all up for a bit of church-bashing every now and then! Everything in moderation.

Okuduğumda bu kitaptan gerçekten keyif aldım. Mimari / lojistik bölümlerden bazıları cinayet yüzünden biraz sıkıcıydı? Heck olarak korkutucu ve gerçekten ilginç! Tabii ki tarihsel yönü çok sevdim.
