A fairly decent book for those who have just graduated and have no idea what to do. I personally took classes preparing for job searcing as a requirement for my major, so I already know a lot of this, but it could be pretty helpful for someone who's never really had a job or had to worry about their own finances before. GRADUATES, REMEMBER - YOU DO NOT (and probably will not) GET A JOB DRECTLY RELATED TO YOUR MAJOR, AND YOU DO NOT NEED TO HAVE THAT "PERFECT CAREER" RIGHT OFF THE BAT! Other things of note - moving back home (which most grads do so don't feel bad), getting your first place, pros and cons of credit cards, maintaining a social life, budgeting, insurance, career assessment (do it), grad school, loan payments, scaling back spending, 401k's (start one ASAP!) -Build a relationship with your boss -display professionalism and maturity -find a mentor within the company/industry -master interpersonal relations and teamwork -network -undetake a strategic development plan -avoid dangerous pitfalls SAY THANK YOU!! I personally realized that I'd probably be happiest in either some kind of nonprofit sector, or doing something fairly creative. I will be checking out jobs in these types of areas. ^^

3.5 stars Okay, so I really, really, really like Gaiman. I am slowly making my way through his works, but I already love him. From the first book of his that I picked up, - The Graveyard Book - , I just knew Gaiman was not only one of the best writers out there, but that he was also the type of writer that would take permanent residence in my head, heart and imagination. What all this is supposed to mean is that, even when something he does (or doesn't do as it is the case wit Stardust) with the plot or the characters which would usually result in a reduction in the stars I would give it here in Goodreads, I would still manage to look past that because Gaiman is a master in the creation of each and every single part of his novels. So, in Stardust, the easy resolution and the shallow characters are its weaknesses, and I debated for quite a while if I should give it 3 stars for that. But then the whole idea behind the novel, the undeniably beautiful tapestry he weaved in the fantastical world he gives us in Stardust, the palpable magic of every page and the magnificent quality of his writing completely overthrew any disappointment I had on the abrupt and anticlimactic resolution, the lack of believable development in the romance and the blandness of some of the main characters. I had a lot of fun reading this book and, since I believe I am sadly entering a bit of a reading slump where I hate everything, stumbling upon a book that makes me want to keep on reading no matter what means quite a lot to me right now. I don't think I've ever claimed a movie to be better than the book it is based on. I never thought the day would come when I would say it, but I do believe the way the plot was handled, the romance built and the characters constructed and developed was superior in the movie adaptation than in the novel. Still, I really enjoyed this one, in spite of everything else.

Enjoyed this book about an amazing woman who was told shed not make a good missionary. While relating history, it also gave personal insight to the innocent victims of wars and the rippling affects from battles and destruction.

This book was very interesting because it was about a painting on parchment. And I noticed that Nancy wasn't solving the mystery with Bess and George, but with her friend Junie. It was a fun read. :)
