Few books I would ever re read but this book is one that I read probably back in high school and now again. Certainly felt different the first time I remember being a bit more exciting back then but it still holds up today.

This book is subversive and awesome, a real thought-provoker. Just look at these quotes: "Language was just our way to explain away the wonder and the glory of the world. To deconstruct. To dismiss. What will happen when something goes wonky with Johnny's newest videogame? Not really what Pterry usually writes, but still very good. Good in a different way, I guess. There's some underlying message(s) about war, etc. (the book is set during the first Gulf war) that are thought-provoking. If you like Pterry, I think you'd like this, even though it isn't really representative of his work.

Not the usual mystery and suspense for this adventure of Mary Russell. That was okay with me though. I think after 11 books King does a great job keeping things fresh. I personally felt this was one of the most humorous entries in the series. I kept imaging poor Mary being part of this ridiculous movie crew similar to myself being thrust into one of those Real Housewives shows.
