Scot Harvath is back, and everything seems to be going wrong. A brilliant plan for the takedown of a major terrorist player has been put into action, but the devastating result causes him to step back and re-evaluate what he is working toward. Meanwhile, seemingly unrelated events are playing out in Los Angeles. Those events soon prove to be the key to discovering what is compromising everything they are working for. Even worse, a larger terrorist attack has been put into play, and Scot and his team have to figure out how to stop it before it is too late. I have loved Brad Thor's books since I first discovered them several years ago. Starting with Lions of Lucerne, his first, I have read each and every book he has released and attended two of the three local book signings he has given in my area. Unfortunately, I no longer get the same thrill from Thor's books. Thor seems to be searching for stories, as Scot Harvath has done nearly everything possible to save the world from terrorist threats thus far, including spending time in a Russian work camp. This book was less story and more commentary. It was definitely better than The Athena Project - a book even I couldn't finish, die-hard fan that I am - but it didn't grab me and pull me in the way the first books in the series did. I truly like Brad Thor's writing style. I enjoy his stories, his unabashed patriotism, and his portrayal of a flawed hero with so many of the qualities I see and love in the military men I know. Thor has the community down pat, he knows what he is writing about. But this book just wasn't up to the gripping story-telling quality Thor established in the past.

This is a thorough survey of men throughout history who have applied themselves to figuring out the meaning of life and the world. Boorstin touches briefly on everyone from Socrates to Einstein, spending just a few pages on each. It's a good introduction and interesting to see everything laid out roughly chronologically and compared.

My mom and I saw this on The Colbert Report a few weeks ago and we've both been wanting to read it ever since. It seems pretty interesting. And, of course, Gina Kolada is the greatest name there is.

Heard an interview on NPR with the author and thought it sounded very interesting. Husband got it for me for Christmas. Very interesting read. Written for lay people; not just all medicalese. Took a while to get through, but worth it.

I didn’t expect this book to be an addiction. Really. It’s my second favorite series ( after the hunger games, of coursee ). Here’s pros and cons +Pros : The twist. The storyline. And JACEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!!! Okay, so before I’m going to whine about Jace, we’ll get to know the first two. Cassandra Clare is extremely talented with creating twist. It felt like I was watching a Korean Soap Drama ( too much twist, not that it was a bad things ) And I already guessed some but they are still surprisingly surprising! It caught my heart. And when I found out that * spoiler alert * Jace and Clary were sister and brother, I was baffled. ( I even googled wherever that it’s real. I know,I know, shame on me but I can’t bear waiting to the city of glass) And the storyline, It’s like a mixture of the Nicholas Flamel and Percy Jackson. Finally, we get to Jace ( you’re going to listen to my ranting, a lot, so skip this part if you feel annoyed. Pardon for my hysteric ) He’s my all-time favorite male character ( I’m still considering if he’d kick Peeta out of his place in my heart or not ) He’s like the combine of Augustus of The Fault In Our Star and Adrian and Dimitri of Vampire Academy. Jace isn’t perfect and I appreciate Cassandra Clare for not building him the head-to-toe perfect image like * cough * Edward. One more thing, this book is HILARIOUS!!! I’ve laughed so often and at an abnormal rate. Cons : I hate Clary. Really. She was annoying and selfish and indecisive and feeble… But somehow I can related to her. She was just like me, a fastidious teenager. And for the first time, I’m aware of how dislikeable am i. But I seriously thought that if the author has some intention for Clary to be the center of the series, she ought to force Clary to have some training. And I also don’t like the storyline. Surely you’re now wondering: Does this girl have some mental problem ? Maybe. I love and hate it. Why ? Sometimes when you’ve read a lot of fantasy, adventurous books, you’re familiar with some of its pattern. I don’t like the way she weaved the book’s pattern, it’s too repetitive ( I know that I always talk about how repetitive the book is when I write reviews ) Overall I think there are more pros than cons. So, Read.it.right.now!

It's confusing, but an important book to read.

Bizarre, and surreal...this book is hard to keep up with at times. I'm not sure if some of the story has been lost in the translation into English from the original Russian, but the plot can be confusing at times. But, the story is still hypnotizing, and in the end i was left wanting to read more about these strange characters.
