I heard about this book on Glen Beck. It is an amazing true story of a 4 man navy seal team that ended up in a battle with 100+ Taliban fighters. It is a story of the realities of war and as such is very violent and disturbing. I will probably not read it again. However I am glad I read it and believe that it should probably be read by everyone once. Warning: There is a lot of profanity in this book but this is not a fiction story where profanity can seem frivolous and completely unnecessary. This is the account of a real battle in a real war where real people get killed.

A friend recommended the book Here Be Dragons as an excellent book to read. I made the mistake of grabbing this book instead. This book was terrible. The story went nowhere. It was so boring and silly. I listened to it on CD while in the car. The more I listened the more I couldn't wait for it to be over. The narrator wasn't very good either.

I loved how well-written the emotional parts were. You can actually picture yourself in the room with what's going on. I wanted more of this book after I finished reading it. I haven't researched more books by Mrs. Green but I intend to.

i love these old sci-fi books. they are not based on good science, and the feats of their characters don't stand up to critical thinking, but they are filled with adventure and romance. just perfect for bringing out the inner pre-pubescent boy in me. this book is the first installment of the "John Carter on Mars" adventures. (i am already well into the second book of the series.) by the way. i did not read the Penguin Classics version. this was a free, on-line version available from one of several websites that offer free, out-of-copyright books for your iPod touch or other device. at first, i did not believe reading a book on an iPod Touch would be very comfortable to the eye. on the contrary, i experienced periods when i could not put it down. And being able to just pop it into my pocket was incredibly convenient. yes, this is turning into more a review of the iPod Touch than the book, so i will end by recommending the Touch's book-reading application "Stanza," and leave it at that.

Pretty interesting book. I liked some of the thoughts in this book, makes you think a bit. The story was a little confusing at times, but at the end it made more sense. Unique.

I've just finished Gabriel's Inferno a couple of days ago(wednesday morning) and I'm so fascinated and obsessed by Gabriel, Julianne, SR and all ... :). I've promised to myself that I'm not picking up another book at least a week, because I have to rest - working all day long & reading late at night - i'm like a zombie already :). But here I am - helpless like a drug addict, I need my next dose of love - I'm starting Fifty Shades of Grey (chuckling). I caught sight of it when I was linked to Gabriel's Inferno for the first time. I remember that I was even considering wich one to choose - obviously I prefer brood, sexy male on one cover than a grey tie on the other cover(pulling tie is seductive yeah :) - that's my first association - but it's a little bit of a cliche). So let's see what Anastasia & Christian can offer to me although I'm already sure that they will not disappoint me :).

I just love this book. I was reminded of this story after I signed up at goodreads and was looking through all of the books that I have read. I decided I needed more Jane Austen and went to my link text to see what other of her books I could read. (All of her books are there on that site and can be read on-line for free!!) I ended up reading Pride and Prejudice...agian. Only my second reading. Don't ask me how many times I've seen the movie. I'll never own to it! This is probably, one of the best love stories ever written. The theme is classic, yet simple...Man and woman meet. Man and woman despise one another. Man and woman slowly begin to realize they are in love and cannot live without one another and must overcome all obstacles and social conventions to be together. It's not an original theme, but can be compelling when told properly. That it has been immitated in books and movies over and over again, When Harry Met Sally, Bridget Jone's Diary...not to mention an entire industry of trashy romance novels that use variations of this basic story, speaks to the timelessness of it. While a popular and timeless notion, no one weaves such a tale of love, romance, betrayal and intrigue better than Austen. IMHO.
