My daughter loaned me this book and the two sequels to read and I must say that I liked it. But I thought it was too dark and disturbing for her 10 year old daughter who has also read it. But that probably just indicates my "old-fogeyness"

i am not a sci-fi head, but Octavia Butler is sooo amazing. she has a great way of creating these fantasy worlds that parallel our real experiences today.

Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett combined, how come nobody thought of that before? Great book, I especially loved Crowley and Aziraphale, who gave a refreshing look on what angels and demons may be like in a modern world :) The humour was wonderful, cynical and sarcastic, though I have a feeling that I didn't get all of the jokes, and if I perhaps reread the book in a few years I'll pick up some of the more subtle ones. A funny thing was - that I could discern at parts, which was Gaiman's writing, and which was Pratchett's. The riders of the apocalypse, I think, were the best portrayed, it was just hilarious about Famine, sketched out to be the one responsible for all the anorexics in the last decades. Totally and honestly recommended. 28.3.07

Gaiman at his macabre best. It is tremendously refreshing to find a truly scary children's/young adult novel without some sweet or indomintable ingenie as the heroine. Scary stuff, even if you're eighty and a great-grandparent.

I have so many pages dog-eared and highlighted from my dissertation research that I may just have to buy another one to read for pleasure. This book is probably my favorite of all of Hillman's works. Passionate and inventive, turning psychology on its head. Hillman is a bit of an ass in person, but his writing makes me want to be a better therapist.

I liked this book more than the Da Vinci Code. I thought the plot was richer and the events were much more profound. The images are extremely vivid and it gives a glimpse of the inner workings of a secretive world, namely the Catholic Church, that is interesting to read (even if it is ficiton).I have to say, this book scared me a bit, and I had a couple of nightmares because of some scenes toward the end! :)

I really enjoyed this book. It was fun and easy to read, as all Meg Cabot books. I am looking forward to the next one.
It didn't grab me like some of the previous collections. my favorite quote: "Sweet monkey fritters!"
