I knew the movie was a stanky ass piece of crap but the reviews on this book was decent so I gave it a shot and I did like it! It's a coming of age/ mutant discovery book and you really root for Davy cos he's just gone through so much. He takes on a vigilante role and you just want him to kick so much ass even though he's just a skinny teenage kid from Ohio. Fun read though!

While this book is sad, I believe that it is one of the most moving books I've ever read. The book has mythological elements, which makes the "trying to find yourself" plot line new and refreshing. It is a hard book to find, but is most likely one of my favoreite books of all times.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book as a gift from the author. No promise of a positive review was made and I was not compensated in any way. Review: FINS is a great little read. Really, that's all you need to know. It's fun, it's sweat and it's short. It's a good short though. Usually, I'm complaining that books simply can't be long enough, that authors don't take enough time to flesh out their worlds, and while I could probably do with a few more tidbits of juiciness here and there in FINS, for the most part, it's great. This was a departure from my usual reading. You know, all dark and gorey and heavy moral lessons. Oh and I generally don't read YA. I like a little 18+ adult content in my pleasure reading, but Knight has done a lovely job of creating a world within a world. Her characters are relatable and fun. And honestly, it's rare when I don't roll my eyes reading about mermaid. Knight's portrayal was realistic and engaging. My only real complaint would be a few things needed better explaining (still not completely sure what cording is) and things seemed a bit too easy. Everyone is rich and pretty. A little too much of a fairytale for me to completely buy into. Also, at times the writing comes across as a bit immature. However, it is an excellent portrayal of a teen POV. It just read younger than the 17 years the main character was supposed to be. I'd like to read the second book when it comes out in paperback and see if some of these issue take care of themselves with more content. Overall, I think Knight did a lovely job with it and if you're looking for a short and sweet fairy tale to lose yourself in, this is a good one.

Finally, Swedish metal gets its props! Norway usually gets all the credit for metal, while Sweden is dismissed as full of crappy Gothenburg-sound bands like In Flames. But what has Norwegian metal really done since Darkthrone, Mayhem, et al? And how can anyone write off a scene that produced bands like Bathory, Candlemass, Anti Cimex, Entombed, Nihilist, At the Gates, Unleashed, Disfear...? His own translation from the original Swedish text, Ekeroth's insider perspective is both informative and hilarious, and paints a grim and frosty picture of the Swedish punk/metal scene in the 80s, and of teenage life in the middle of nowhere.

I read this to my children (elementary school) during read aloud, and what a fun and preposterous book! From the land of Dictionopolis to Digitopolis to moving through the Doldrums and encountering the DYNNE, it was a fun exploration into areas of language, numbers, feelings, and qualities. The descriptions of characters were witty and Milo's adventures had my kids chuckling. One of them also got the message about the character who always made excuses (pointed out emphatically by me of course) and how Rhyme and Reason can usually create harmony where there was discord. A fun book that can be read over and over again.

Read this one for book club. It held my attentions, but wasn't as insightful as I had hoped it might be.

Cassandra Clare has did it again...This lovely new series takes you back to the 1800 (I think) where if you've read The Mortal Instruments series, you'll meet their ancestors and the of course we can't forget Magnus Bane! Characters? The bomb! Jem is just soo sweet and had my heart melting in the first book as well as this one. Will was not really one of my favorite characters in the LAST book because of what he did to Tessa..but in this book he had me swooning every second he was on. Cassandra Clare portrayed another sweet yet charming side of him in this book and you could see the real Will. The one who doesn't hide. Tessa was cool. She's one of those characters you end up having a connection with. She wasn't super awesome but she wasn't boring either or made stupid mistakes either. I loved watching her and Will interact! The romance? The flame has been lit. As Will finds out the truth, he takes on the course to be with Tessa. But with Jem crushing on her, too, its hard for them not to hurt him. Tessa obviously is in love with Will but other issues comes in their ways. This book is way more heated and swoon worthy than the first and it has their moments. Gideon and Sophie!! *squeals* They're soooo cute together! But if Gideon hurts her..Gideon I'm gonna hurt you! (I'm sorry all you Team Jem fans! I'm probably being more biased towards Will.) I will say that Cassandra Clare isn't the best of writers when it deals with the romance but when it comes to secrets and twists, she's the one for you. The ending? Jaw dropping, heart-clenching, never-letting the book go, give-me-Clockwork Princess NOW kinda ending. Uh huh. I just went there. Soo if you haven't started this series..Please do yourselves a favor and pick up Clockwork Angel and start reading! You won't regret it!

So far these are fun to read and make sense to me. I bemused by the Kanev's English at times. We have to supply the correct verb tense or formation. It started off with a poem with red ants and I told my friends about that and we agreed it was good. The mix of emotions in these poems intrigued me. I enjoyed the many references to drinking, love making, the aloneness, the not fitting in, the fitting in, and capturing the immediacy of a moment. Good job Peycho!

I liked this book alot! The author really gives a good perspective of how hard it is to live off of minimum wage and minimum benefits.

One hell of a rip roaring read that left me dazed and satisfied. The best book by King I've read since I was a teenager.
