More of a 4 and a half. Read this in preparation for Summer of You which I heard about on Smart Bitches and Dear Author, as they are linked novels. At first, I didn't like Phillipa, the heroine, because she was so snobby, but I liked how she changed and grew over the course of the novel. Loved the Beta Hero Marcus, and the spy story was a little different for most Regencies. I also liked the misdirection at the beginning where she seems to fall for one guy, and gradually sees him pale in comparison to our hero. "It's just me." was a great theme throughout (very apropos of our hero) with one notable exception, at the climax of a love scene. It *really* did not belong at that moment, and took me out of the scene. Immediately downloaded Summer of You on my Kindle to continue reading the saga.

This book had a very interesting thought about religion and what God is etc... It was interesting, but it seemed a little too fictional for me. Wishy washy or whatever. But mind expanding theory about religion presented by the author made it worth reading.

I'm not a sci-fi person, but this is one of the few that I've read and really enjoyed. Tells the story of Ender Wiggin, a six-year old boy who gets recruited to train for an impending war. Though the action is good, the internal character conflicts leave a more lasting impression than the external ones. More interested in good characters than in techno-babble. What sci-fi should be.
