Having a hard time getting into this one. As much as I hate to leave a book unfinished, this one may end up in the discard pile. Update...finished. Nothing more to say about it.

It was a bit slow going, but once I finally got into it the book was quite good.

The thing about Murakami is that he jacks up the finale every time. ALWAYS. He's one of our premier fabulists, but he just can't bookend these things: great openings - foreign in every sense of the word - followed by completely pedestrian endings. And, too many cats.

Loved his first book (A Simple Plan), which creeped me out to no end, but this one was not very good.

Once in a while, you pick up a book, having never heard about it, but something about it intrigues you. Within the first few pages, it captivates you, and you find yourself spending every waking moment absorbed in a story so enthralling that you just can’t bear to put the book down. The Tenth Gift is one of those books. In 1625, Barbary pirates land in Cornwall, taking 60 men, women and children hostage. Based on this true event, author Jane Johnson creates the character Catherine Ann Tregenna, one of the captured. We follow Cat’s story, as she endures the harrowing voyage to Morocco, where she is sold as a slave. Not only is the story exciting, but there are lots of twists and turns, and some great history thrown in. It’s a perfect book for those planning their summer reading lists!

The Hunger Games is a great book for those who like stories with love, action, and survival. Anyone can relate to some character in this book. I would recommend this book to someone who likes action, romance, or both. I loved this book because there was never a dull moment. I've never known what it was like to be hungry and hopefully I never will, but I think I can somehow understand what it’s like after I’ve read this book. My favorite part in this book was when Katniss put flowers around Rue. I like that the book relates to current events, government issues, and human condition as well. The parts I didn't like as much were when Katniss was back in District 12. They weren't horrible, but they weren’t as good as the rest of the book. I would recommend this book to everyone. The author did a good job of adding a lot of variety to the Hunger Games. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes action, love, or survival books. This book was amazing.

What's not to love about Michael Dante, sweet, caring loving, protective, determined, Hockey Player! Again, what's not to love! Theresa was a wreck of a character, with good reason. there were times I found I liked her and times she drove me nuts! This was a great, quick read. Although it read more like chick lit than romance to me.

This was the first Kurt Vonnegut book that I read...it probably isn't his best, but I definitely enjoyed his writing style. It's a quick, easy read, and very entertaining.

I read this book so many times in high school that I wore out the binding. In fact, I once slept with it under my pillow during an especially stressful time. Holden Caufield seems pretty dated now -- just look at the proliferation of books & movies with characters disenchanted by "phonies" (e.g., American Beauty, any film by Todd Solendz) -- but his struggles are a testament to individuality and the search for identity that marks the teen years.
