I liked some of these better than others. The Spike & Dru story that started the collection seemed silly, while the origin story didn't seem to have enough new to really merit an entire story. But the others filled in the space between LA and Sunnydale in a satisfying manner.

This is a lovely book. It's only my second book by this author, but I'm finding the mix of detective fiction, with some surrealism, and humor very entertaining. If you are the type of reader who needs to have all the details nailed down, you might not enjoy it. My book club is reading it, so I'll be excited to discuss all the open questions from the story.

This is really more of a 2.5 stars. Nothing outstanding. Bennett isn't really a rogue - more of a boorish man who doesn't quite fit in to polite society. I liked Flip, though. Bennett just wasn't as charming as he could have been. He did grow on me throughout the book and it was rather nice to see a hero who actually wanted to marry the girl, not just seduce her. Of course, he wanted to seduce as well, but his end goal was actually marriage to the heroine. I don't think I'll be continuing the series, especially as it doesn't seem as if the Duke of Sommerset is the hero of any of them. I would have liked to see more of him. And it doesn't seem that John gets his happy ever after - not that he could carry a whole book, but yes, I like my secondary romance couples to be resolved nicely and together. At least this was a book I got from the library. I think I would have liked it a lot less if I had bought it.

The story is breezy and fun, with Weezie, Dirk, and Secret Angent Lover Man tripping lightly from one adventure to the next, learning to live, love, and make successful underground movies in a Hollywood that actually has all the glitz and glamour that we naively hope it would.
