I think everyone puts a lot of pressure on the last book of a trilogy or series to wrap everything up in a way we feel happy with. After how much I enjoyed the first two I had high expectations for the last book. Following the trial of Lisbeth finally all her past is revealed and her verdict is given. I’ll admit for awhile I was beginning to give up hope. It moved slower then the others and introduced a slew of new people so I started to worry for the epic conclusion I dreamed. But then again Larson pulled it out tremendously! I felt this provided a full and satisfying conclusion that answered all questions, revealed all mysteries and left no open ends. Fantastic trilogy, fantastic characters, just all around great! I look forward to re reading them for years to come!

Ok, here's the thing. The writing was fine. And the plot was pretty good (standard haunted house, group of people comes to check it out and possibly de-haunt it sort of thing). So the two stars are really more of a personal preference, as I don't handle dark things well. And this was really, really dark. It forces you to think about things that humanity has the capacity for that, in my opinion, don't need to be thought about. They don't need to be thought about, because one of the things we should be working towards as a society is to eradicate even the notion of those things. I'm talking about stuff like necrophilia, etc. I don't need that in my head. So it's not so much an 'I don't want to think about unpleasant things' as 'Writing about this feels unnecessary to anyone's betterment in any way.' I do like Richard Matheson. And there were some things, like the character of Florence, the medium, that I really liked. And it was pretty readable from a writing standpoint. But I just wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

You would think I would love Dune. It's huge and sci-fi and it's got giant sand-worms. Not the case. Perhaps I need to go read it again, because when I went through it at 16 years of age I couldn't stand the thing. It's just boring. Or not. Could be I just need to give it another go.

My Cousin Rachel Written By: Daphne du Maurier Published By: Sourcebooks Landmark, an Imprint of Sourcebooks Inc., 2009 (Originally Published in 1951), 392 pages, paperback ISBN 978-1402217098 My Cousin Rachel is the second book by Daphne du Maurier that I have read and reviewed; I’ve enjoyed this story ever-so-much-more then Frenchman’s Creek. The flowing plot includes some startling, yet very satisfying twists and turns that encourage the reader to devour the book’s content as quickly as possible, so they can find out more; it led me on a exciting chase of emotional ups and downs, during which time I was aware of the dark undertones suggesting that people might not be who they seem. Some gentle clues within the story nudge the reader in one direction while... * Please follow the link to read the whole review: http://bookreviewsbybobbie.wordpress....

This was a short story. It was a little difficult to follow in some parts, simply because of the elegant, older language, but for the most part it was really interesting. Giovanni finds himself falling in love with Beatrice, Dr. Rappaccini's (the scientist) daughter. He cares much more for science than actual life. As you read further you start to see what exactly he has done to his poor daughter and how it is affecting Giovanni. It was really a very good but strange story.

This book is great! I didn't actually read the book but I listened to the audio book version (got it free from iTunes). Since the audio book is an abridged version, I assume that the bulk of the important topics were kept intact. Russell Simmons has some great points, many great anecdotes to illustrate those stories and best of all he keeps it real (as best as I can tell) while adding some humor into the mix. A good number of his thoughts and ideas draw from religious thought and teachings. However, this book is not a religious book and the ideas are not about religion, but are based upon a more universal idea of spirituality and wisdom.

I was expecting to hate this book, but it actually turned out to be quite interesting. It's always good to see sin for the ugly beast it is, and the Inferno does an excellent job of that. But I also liked the story, and the fact that this epic poem actually rhymes (in the translation I read, anyway). I can't help loving good poetry, even if it's about hell.
