This book was exciting. Too bad Dmitri got really, really annoying, and Rose got really, really, really annoying, and those two combined made a really, really, really, really, really, really annoying couple. WHY ROSE, WHY NOT ADRIAN (the reason was given in the book but eh) ADRIAN CAN BE MINE THEN LOL.

This was required reading in Ms. Mary Jean Odmark's 8th grade English class. She loved wolves! I think she was what you'd call a "woman who runs with the wolves." Before that I saw the movie a lot on the Disney Channel somewhere around 3rd grade. How is it that I remember the movie so much more vividly -- esp. the part where he eats raw mice with crackers?

A great finale to a great series! Such a wonderful love story between Cian and Moira. I hope they make this series into a full length movie...I love, love, love it!

I really enjoyed getting back to an Ender book with more focus on Ender himself. There were a few characters in there that were included for the sake of tying up loose ends, and they really felt extraneous. Like they were added after a fan wrote Card a letter and said "Hey, what happened to Bean's last offspring?" and Card replied, "Well, I can add in 20 pages scattered around to solve that." So I could have done without some of that. In order to really enjoy this, it is helpful (but probably not necessary) to have read all of the Shadow books so that you know and remember what else is going on and why certain people are certain places. If/when I read it again, I'll be sure to go back through those as part of the process. I think one of the parts that really helped gain a deeper immersion into the world are the messages between characters at the beginning of each chapter. It's a chance to see much deeper into what each character is thinking and to see the conflict in each person between what you know they're thinking and what they're willing to say. Overall, if you really enjoyed Ender's Game enough to seek out other books of the series, I'd recommend this book. If you read Ender's Game and were happy with that, I might suggest sticking with that. If you really hated Ender's Game, then obviously you should avoid sequels.

A bit vulgar at times, but definately a great YA literature peice that keeps the boys turning the pages and also deals with some very real, poignant issues.

A refreshing step away from the Changelings, but does anyone understand this cover?

This is a little different than the stories that I normally like to read but the author was able to keep my interest by very good descriptive writing. I received a first copy in a contest and am pleased to have read this book. Although he could be construed as a monster, Mackie makes you feel for him throughout the book with his human characteristics and suffering. I especially liked the underworld characters. I do think this book would make a very good movie if it was done with quality.

Way too much war for me. I liked Alaric(main male) much more than Fallon (main female) of the book. She was just too much of everything. Too head strong, too persistant, too loyal to what was gone, and too unforgiving!

This is another great read by Anne Fadiman which was supposed to be a three part series for the New Yorker Magazine but instead (better yet) became a book. It is a fascinating study of the Hmong people, an Asian culture with deep roots in Chinese and Laotian territories. Ms. Fadiman explores their migration to Merced, California and their culture especially in regards to the medical community. It is a fascinating account of how medical practices had to come to terms with the beliefs of the Hmong community in order to help a young girl with epilepsy. I loved learning about the Hmong culture and seeing how the two (American/Hmong) cultures came together with their different needs, beliefs and healings.
