So, from past reviews, it may seem that I think Stephen King can do no wrong (the lit majors among you are probaby shuddering in horror, no pun intended). I love most of his books (cf. Cell) and actually think he is a very good writer - his character development is fab, and his stories are compelling, exciting, and usually have some actual symbolism (though some may be a bit too gruesome for the average bear). This is one of his best. If you decide to embark on this journey, make sure to pick up the unabridged version - I have read both, and it's best to absorb it all at once. This is an apocalyptic story of good and evil - survivors struggling to make it. Highly recommended.

While I've only seen the show a couple of times I decided to read this after seeing it on Susie's list a couple of months ago. I was especially interested in how they were able to start up their business first working out of their Dad's apartment. I was impressed with how much money he had in his retirement to help with seed money especially after his tales of excess drinking while running a small welding company

My admiration for the author's writing. Wonder how he could put his most simple and complex of thoughts on paper. Writers mostly are hypocrites and Richard Bach is no exception. You can preach to others but not mandatory that you follow. Would recommend this book to anyone who feels lonely and lost at the moment.

Мне понравилось, даже с учетом излишне морализаторского тона автора и его явно неопределенного отношения к собственной героине. Керри вызывает симпатию, ее поступки никогда не исходили из каких-то плохих побуждений, не было в ней злого умысла, да и не соблазняла она никого, а просто плыла по течению, лишь изредка пытаясь трепыхаться. Но как-то уж слишком легко она отпускала людей из своей жизни, как говорится «с глаз долой – из сердца вон», никого особо не любила, вот эта ее поверхностность в отношениях и отталкивает. Да и не пойму, как можно столько времени печалиться, что не на что потратить деньги и даже не вспомнить о родных, прозябающих в каком-то мелком городке?! В общем, мое отношение к героине тоже далеко не однозначное. Хотя она еще молода, так что, мне кажется, автор не совсем прав, так категорично лишая ее даже надежды на счастье, имхо, у нее еще все впереди. Дважды обжегшись, впредь она будет осторожнее вступать в отношения с мужчинами и, может быть, когда-нибудь еще встретит того, кого действительно полюбит. В конце концов, не зря же ее тянет к людям умным и неординарным, вроде Эмса. 8/10
