Full of great recipes for both the regular home cook and the professional. There are recipes for starters and bread doughs that the average home baker would probably not spend the time as they lean more towards someone who is in the baking field. But the cake recipes further into the book are suitable for any level and sound delicious. One of my favourite bakeries in Sydney - it is great to know how all their gorgeous treats are made.

I loved this book! Halberstam does a great job summing up a decades worth of information into one book. Eisenhower, Truman, the Beats, Civil Rights, Korean War, The Pill, The Origins of Television, etc. I can't wait to read more from David Halberstam.

This book was a fun one. Nothing too deep, and it kept me chuckling. I may start channelling Auntie Mame on occasion, despite her being flighty and ridiculous at times, because she was also very fab and very glam which is probably a fun way to be sometimes. Life can be very humdrum if you let it. Plus, no matter what, she always landed on her feet--love that.

Two Bodies Another little surprise in the "Guys in College" collection by Matthew Haldeman-Time. Bruce is a 25 years old mechanic who love sex, more and often. He have no serial problems in his life, maybe he is only a bit short of money. So he agrees to act in a home made porno. He must only make sex with another guy, so where is the problem? He has sex almost every night... The other guy is Cory: an eighteen years old physics student who needs money to eat; he is to occupy with his studies to have an half time job, so he thinks to make some simple money in this way... but Cory is very young and very... virgin. He has never has sex and he has barely kissed someone. That first night Bruce is drunk and he is rude and fast and... he falls in love. And know he has to prove to Cory that he could be the right guy for him, and the ONLY guy for him. Bruce is no so cultered like Cory, but he is open and sincere. He has a simple good life, and he is willingly to surrender his heart to Cory. Cory is like all the young: a little egoist and very demanding, but in the end he is not a bad guy and Bruce wants to give him all. Like for Incredible and its sequel Stupid Question, also for this story I would like to read more: about the life together, for example. Save starts out with a challenging moral dilemma as a fire engulfs the cafeteria in an elementary school. One of the lunch moms saw her daughter run into the bathroom after being teased but the 3 little girls, who teased her daughter are standing in front of her. Who does she save? The book morphs into a mystery - did someone start the fire? Why has the gifted teacher left the school with no warning? It was a good read but a little too jumpy.

Great book.He writes about what he went through in slavery,i feel deep sorrow for this man.Never finding out who his father was and also went through abuse from his masters but still manages to get taught how to read and later on becomes an intelligent man.A must read, goes deep into slavery!

I liked the style of the writing. The book is well thought out, and rings true from what I know of recent Chinese history. The story is fiction, but is rooted in real events. It isn't a happy story. Socialism didn't make for very many happy endings for the billions of people that passed through it - another element that rings true in the book. The story shows how the system of government that the people lived under made it difficult for a virtuous people to arise. Any character in the book with strong convictions was eventually killed, or tortured and imprisoned. I think the author did a good job portraying the internal conflict and ultimate triumph (of soul) for those who could stand by their convictions. So, what do you think of the main question in the novel - can the government punish the masses?
