Am I seriously the first person on Goodreads to write a review for this? Now I feel a little ridiculous. But, before you mock me, can I just say I didn't intend to read it, but it was disturbingly addictive and two hours later, I was done with the whole thing. It's like reading essays written by high schoolers or maybe college freshmen. The sheer amount of immaturity combined with thinking they're the coolest, most intelligent, fascinating person in the entire world makes for awesome reading. I don't think this book says one single surprising thing about the show the entire time (apparently everyone is wonderful and loves each other except for Simon, who can be rude and mean, but that's okay because America wants him to be) but it's so earnestly immature about not saying anything I wanted to keep reading anyway. Kudos to the co-writer, because either he didn't do *anything*, or he can write eighteen-nineteen year old POV so well that he should get some kind of award. It gets an extra star just because it entertained me that much.

This book is really cute. The narrator (Daddy) explains all the things he would do for his daughter if he were a(n) explorer, a carpenter, a pilot, even a librarian, and more! It's very cute with nice illustrations, but by the end I was asking myself..."After going through all of these occupations that the Daddy clearly is NOT...is this daddy unemployed?" Just a thought. hehe. Cute book.

I enjoyed reading this. The iambic pentameter (among other classic English poetic meters) seemed a little odd, but I can see how the translator wanted to instill a poetic sense into the translation despite the obvious difficulties in translating poetry into a different language. However the translation was different from other excerpts of the Bhagavad-gita that I have experienced in the past, and I am now curious to try a translation that is not so structured. In this edition, although the meter is very regular, sentences are often begun or finished in the middle of a line. What I did like is how Sir Edwin Arnold changed to different poetic meters at key points in the text. The changes were effective and delightful. Another interesting thing about the meter is that I found the translation incomprehensible unless I "heard" it with strong feet. The result is that I often tapped a finger, bobbed my head, or whispered aloud as I read it. Altogether an enjoyable read, with some quirky aspects, but I would be curious to try a few more translations.

Well researched and written, with many details describing the expansion of the American way of life into what was formerly the land of the Indian. Intriguing descriptions of day-to-day life in both the Indian and army cultures during the late 19th century, with detailed histories of what is known of Crazy Horse and George Armstrong Custer.

A collection of short stories that are as smart and fast as the author himself. There are some delightful moments in these stories, some of which will stay with me forever.

Another book in my DNF stack that I decided to give a second chance. All in all, it was an interesting book - it was just really slow moving. The second half was a lot better than the first half, and once I got through the book, I realized that I actually enjoyed it. It was also nice to read a book about the Midwest - it's great to be "familiar" with the locations.

This was not a great book. The characters were damned annoying. I only read it because Ewan McGregor and Daniel Craig are supposed to be in a movie adaptation. Delicious! I think it can still make a good movie though if the actors have more ethos than the characters on the page.
