A heavy, intricate, and beautiful novel. The ending is a bit clunky and strange, but the rest of the story makes up for it. The writing is gorgeous, and the characterization is brilliant. I loved the theme of the importance of self-revelation, of knowing who you are and what your place is. It's emotional and human without being overly sentimental or hokey.

This was one of those books I read, feeling as though I'd read it before. As it turned out, I had. It's really the only Anne LaMotte book I am not crazy about. Two teens compete in tennis and lack supervision is the basic story.

These days, it is easy to think of Anarchy as just one more fashion statement you can pick up at Hot Topic and sew onto your school bag. In reality, anarchy was a labor movement and, as John Henry Mackay outlines in his fictionalized first-person account, violently opposed by the powers that ruled London and other centers of commerce at the turn of the century. This book is really dense, and mostly a vehicle for JHM's theory of anarchy, which he seeks to distinguish from Communism - a distinction that most people, including many within the movement, deemed irrelevant. Regardless, he paints a detailed portrait of a metropolis in poverty, and the idealists that rose up to speak against the dominant paradigm of capitalism.

This is probably one of Faulkner's best. An absolute masterpiece of a book that explores human interaction at its most intimate and intricate level. Faulkner has created very real characters with flaws that we can all relate to - Lena Grove, the quiet, pregnant heroine who walks away from her home and several hundred miles to find the man who fathered her child. When she lands in Jefferson, there is a fire in which Joanna Burden has perished. It's in Jefferson that she meets Byron Bunch, whom is smitten with the strength and beauty of Lena's demeanor. Enter the related plots, featuring Byron Bunch, Reverend Gail Hightower, and the wayward beau, who is sharing a cabin with Joe Christmas, a character who doesn't reveal much about himself to anyone, but whose life is intertwined with all of their lives in ways none of them fully realize. The interwoven plots are sheer brilliance, and each plot is an intricate story on its own. Forget what you think you know about Faulkner. This book is as strong a book as I've ever read.

Wow! What an incredibly intense and emotional book. Eden St.Claire is a field agent for the LCR agency. Her talent is creating the deepest, most detailed cover, her body is beautiful but also a deadly weapon. Jordan Montgomery has worked on secret government operations but wants to get out after a last stint in Paris. While in Paris, he plans to give his search for a long lost friend a last try. When the two first meet there is an instant attraction but what is Eden hiding? And can Jordan actually deal with the truth? This book is one of the best I have read so far in the romantic suspense genre. 'Romantic' and 'Suspense' were perfectly woven into each other. Very often in other books, I get the feeling that the story sometimes seems to be rushing forward only to get to the relationship parts - the romantic aspects of the book, while the suspense/crime aspect gets left behind or is only a means to get the relationship going. Sometimes it even seems to be simply a page-filler. This was not the case with Rescue Me . I was interested in every single action-filled word and actually wanted to know about the individual operations of the agency. Nevertheless, the romantic scenes and the relationship between Jordan and Eden were in perfect balance. The characters Christy Reece created are detailed and very complex. They feel real, even though they might lead a life that none of us can connect with. This book was a roller coaster ride of emotions - suspense, tension, revulsion, hope, happiness and anger. Christy Reece created a story and a world in which I went through all these emotions in a matter of one day. I think that should tell you what league Rescue Me belongs to. I can recommend this book to anyone who has even the slightest interest in romantic suspense, who wants to read a heart-breaking love story or simply see the bad guys get what they deserve in a serious ass-kicking! Now I'm a very happy camper and I'm definitely going on to reading the second book in the series Return to Me^^ 5 stars for Rescue Me !! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

This is a beautifully written book. It is well worth the read. There is a scene that is graphic and difficult to read (emotionally) but is essential to the plot of the book.
