Ubik is not my favorite of Dick's books. But this one definitely doesn't disappoint. The paranoia is thick here (not as thick as it was in Lies, Inc.), but enough to really get your head spinning. I think of Dick as a literary version of David Lynch, and I love getting lost in his insane worlds. I think this was the book where I really got how crazy Dick was, and I remember realizing that the entire story line was straight out of a schizophrenic's tangential delusion, but kinda brilliant at the same time. Like most of Dick's books, not for those who like coherent story lines

Love this author and another book of her's "The Patron Saint of Butterflies." She tackles difficult topics and does not disappoint as she deftly combines plot with major character development. I couldn't put this one down. Although targeted for YAs/Teens, it's very appropriate for adults as well.

This is scary! It's an excellent peak into the world of fundamentalist Mormons. But I think it also does a very good job of showing that this is only a part of the religion. I would be interested in hearing what others think.

I have to admit I really enjoyed this book. Although at first you think the subject matter is going to be extremely superficial, it really does end up giving a great moral story in the end. Being handsome in school was never a problem I had to deal with, so it was interesting to see and hear the problems Bradley has to go through when he becomes a model and the new town celebrity. I really enjoyed meeting Bradley's family and the author did a great job of making each one a very unique individual. A nice read for preteen/teen readers.
