Okay. This will be short to save everyone time. Lord knows Hugh likes to talk (type?) about things he likes, or doesn't like, but, in light of a busy week, let me make this simple. There are litterally hundreds of positive reviews about the Dresden Files that explain how wonderful they are. I particularly like "Mike(the Paladin)'s" review of this book. I can't agree more with the good reviews. I'm not giving it a four, yet, but I might come back and change my mark later either after more thought or reading more of the series. It's good, it's a detective story, it's a modern fantasy, it's just a dad-blasted fun read. I recommended it. Warnings: Some violence and mature/sexual situations may not be appropriate for young adults. Be a good parent, know your child and if they can handle this, then let them have it. It's right for just about any Adult who likes modern fantasy stories. (Okay 4.5 stars.) Bravo! I want more.

This book clarified the reality of Afghanistan life today and the what the people have endured, especially women. It also piqued my interest about a country I previously knew nothing about with the exception of what news agencies report. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about another culture and to realize how much we Americans take our freedoms for granted.

Comet Jack is the perfect read for any middle school child who enjoys any kind of speculative fiction. The plot is solid and fast-paced. The characters are vivid and portrayed in a very realistic manner. The science fiction elements are fascinating yet simple to understand but just as interesting are the "terrestrial" adventures which take place. Any kid who has ever moved to a new neighborhood and struggled to fit in will identify with Jack. The main character is completely sympathetic and likable. As an added bonus, there is no "questionable" content either. As a parent I'd sometimes have to give a quick read to some books before allowing my 10 year old to read it. Not the case here. And finally, you can't beat the price on Amazon.com.
