Excellent, excellent book! Her best one in this series! Lots of developments, twists and turns in this book and a very sad, tragic death. :-( Now there is a new villian, which is really not surprising. I am so looking forward to the next book!!

Contains Chapters 13 - 16: This was another great addition to this series. The Christmas plot line was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed this volume.

This is an excellent book on ethics and cause quite a stir when it came out. It was a very fast read for a philosophy book. Interestingly, while most authors are great at criticism/deconstruction and not so good at building their own constructive arguments, the opposite is the case for MacIntyre in this book. I tend to agree more with his constructive picture of what virtue ethics is all about and disagree with his characterization of moral discourse in the modern west. On the constructive side, his great core ideas are on the relationship between social practices, institutions, virtues and intrinsic and extrinsic goods. This is a very rich picture with the capacity of integrating morality back into an analysis of historical change and progress - especially with reference to his internal goods/external goods distinction. Perhaps I'll write more about that later...

I loved the idea of strength in unity. The chalenge of getting along with people that you do not normally associate with, but the joy that comes from breaking through that barrier. Wonderful series! Loved it. And LOVED Briar!!

This may be just my views but I was not a fan of this book. I had to read it the summer before my freshman year for IB. Maybe that was what ruined it for me. I had reread the first paragraph/page at least 17 times.

Rory accomplishes something that no other travel diaries have done before him; he observes little of value or anything worth remembering from his experience. He loves walking and decides to walk through Afghanistan following footsteps of a Mongul king. As his journey progresses, he becomes more tired and increasing complains about people, food, climate, everything. Makes me wonder who forced him to do this? He complains about backwardness and violence in the Afghan places he visits. Is it any wonder that after decades of violent occupation by foreign powers, they live like this? I picked up this book in the airport and thought for a NY Times best seller, it can't be bad; I was wrong.

An interesting book of this guys real life story of being shipwrecked and at sea for 76 days in a little plastic dingy. I bought the book for $2 and its more than paid for itself in interesting dreams and "what would I do in that situation" thoughts.

i thought this was a very positive book about mothering. we all need a boost about why we do what we do in relationship to mothering. it can be easy to get discouraged if we dont keep the big picture in mind. we need to make a stand about the importance of mothers. Jane Clayson Johnson says it BEAUTIFULLY in this book.
