This started out with a bang, and I loved the premise. But then I found I didn't care so very much for the love story and what felt to be the required series of finial plot twists. Although I did like how it closed on intimations of coming discord.

Not my favorite by this author. In fact, if this were my first exposure, I wouldn't have read any of the others. The character is there, but seems adrift. The ending isn't very satisfactory. the book seems wistful.

I'm just going to write what's on the book jacket...it's what pulled me in! The story of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is very difficult to describe. Usually we give some clues about the book on the jacket, but in this case we think that would spoil the reading of the book. We think it is important that you start to read without knowing what it is about. If you do start to read this book, you will go on a journey with a nine-year-old boy called Bruno. (Though this isn't a book for nine-year-olds.) And sooner or later you will arrive with Bruno at a fence. Fences like this exist all over the world. We hope you never have to encounter such a fence.

I thought this book was really good, and I read it in a day. It was really well written and I just loved the story. It's not like a fluff book, not as intense as others, but probably somewhere in the middle. If anyone is looking for a quick read thats enjoyable, then pick up this book!

This elegantly written coming of age story, set in 1962 Britain, concerns an unusual relationship between two teenagers. A sense of history permeates the novel, with the setting being close to Roman ruins. I particularly liked this quote: "If you have the patience to wait and watch, history will reshape truth (weakest of all forces, and weightless) in the image of opinion. What really happened will cease to matter and, eventually, cease to exist."
