I actually accidentally purchased this on my kindle. I intended to download a sample and instead but the whole thing. Don't regret it at all. I really enjoyed this book, though admittedly it took a bit to get into it. And while I picked up on the foreshadowing, I definitely didn't call the ending, though I did find it a bit unbelievable. It's a great saga of the parallel and sometimes intersecting stories of two families.

This book gets more endearing as you make your way through it. My kids have enjoyed it, but I think we enjoyed it more after watching the Peter Pan video and getting some background on the story and characters.

Another great one from Rushdie! I learned so much about the history of the Kashmir region and enjoyed the story as well. Visceral and gritty but completely engaging.

** spoiler alert ** I was a little disappointed with this book. The writing was excellent but the back cover gave the impression that it was a ghost story. It was but not in the general sense. I was hoping to read something that would literally scare me. It was a story of haunted people.

Yeah I get that I'm supposed to hate this kid but I could never relate. All the kids I knew that were angry and striking out at the world had good reasons; poverty, broken homes, abuse, drugs, alcohol. Colden was a whiny rich little brat who deserved to get his ass kicked by the cruel world. But it's a classic for a reason.
