This book is simultaneously inspiring, discomforting, moving, and disturbing. I laughed and cried and smiled and exclaimed, "Paul Farmer must be God on earth" and felt troubled to the core. Paul Farmer absolutely amazes you, makes you feel horribly inadequate and guilty, forgives you, challenges your beliefs, dares you to challenge his. Kidder's acount of Farmer, Partners In Health, and their mission to create a preferential option for the poor is beautifully written, and thoughtful, too. And I suppose it accomplishes a goal on its own, too. I took out my checkbook before I even finished reading.

Oooooooooooooooooh, snap. There's a great little bit on this book where she kind of admits that she's kind of horrifyingly sentimental, which I thought was SUCH a sweet move--like, "Okay, yeah, I am MAWKISH, suck it, world, this is how I do!" I admire that. Plus I just freaken love her.

Love this book, a re-telling of Arthurian legend with Morgaine, his half-sister (Morgan le Fey) as the narrator, focuses on the women in the story. The author is a science fiction writer, so it kind of shows - incest / violence - but it's really well written.

Joy, more chick lit. Just like the other Abdel-Fattah book, it's character-reliant. Thus, in my mind, this is the weaker of the two. Mrs. Abdel-Fattah shows what a good character writer she is here, possibly more than in Does My Head Look Big In This?, because I don't like Jamilah as much. She could very well have turned into a typical Repressed Teenage Girl, but Mrs. Abdel-Fattah made her human and empathetic, even when she pushed my buttons with her whining at her dad. However, Jamilah is quite wrong, a lot, and so I understand her, if not like. This plot comes out exactly as you'd expect it to, though there are a few bizarre moments. Jamilah discovers that the unknown person she'd been emailing back and forth was actually someone she knew, and was...furious at this breach of her privacy? I'm sorry, you would have preferred to spill your guts to a total stranger, maybe even an online stalker, than the boy you totally-don't-uh-uh-never-ever like? What is wrong with you? Her reaction to finding out that her beloved teacher is marrying her father is...betrayal. Yeah, Jamilah, I understand you a lot of the time, but not here. You're nuts. Still, good cotton candy. This time around the Islam could really stand for any minority that the rebellious child must learn to embrace.

probably one of the oldest plays I've read and probably my favorite. Generally I am not a fan of plays because they used to bore me however recently I have been reading a lot more plays and I'm finding it to be much more interesting than i have expected. I was never a fan of Shakespeare mainly because of the complexity of his language. But this book was very different in the reason that it was very in that time period yet the language was for me to understand. another reason i enjoyed this book was because of its plot and actions happening because it never really got boring.

Took awhile for him to get this book out, and I think in the meantime my interest in the series and the story at large has waned a bit. I'll probably read the last one when he publishes it just for, you know, closure and all. There are still a few characters with whom I'm interested in seeing the outcome.

At first the story was really typical and I could already guess what was going to happen. And even though it was like that overall, after reading it through I started to like it more. The story isn't anything new, but the storyline was cute. However, I didn't really care much for Sam. He's kinda unrealistic and a jerk. I feel that Autumn should of have a little more spine but she gave into him too quickly. But, I did enjoy the book.
