I highly enjoyed this book and kept hearing Steve Martin in my head reading it to me. I kept picturing him as Daniel. My only gripe though is how perfectly it ended. The characters captivated me, but I just thought it was a "fairy-tale" ending.

Not the best writing. Not the deepest or thought provoking. Certainly entertaining though. Single or in a relationship, it provides quite the fantasy of the perfect man.

I read this to my 5 year old granchild. She laughed and loved the girl in the mirror on the last page the best. Taxiali describes all sorts of ways to be silly that will make a child giggle. My granddaughteer was not familiar with some of the more difficult vocabulary words like 'manic' but did not seem distracted. For myself, the colors of the illustrations were not appealing to me. They reminded me of my avacdo and harvest gold appliances in the 1970's. All in all This is Silly was okay to be again.

This book is very repetitive .... it hammers the point in so many ways you simply will not miss it! This pre-dates Fast Food Nation I think.... It changed my life.

This non-fiction book starts with Robert Flaherty venturing to Canada to make a film about the Inuit (Eskimos), the 1920 silent movie, Nanook of the North. His film is considered to be the first documentary and by some, including Martin Scorsese, the greatest documentary ever made. From here the book totally changes in tone and them. The Inuits are moved, by the Canadian government, to a harsh land about a 1000 miles north. This movement and abandonment parallels what the United States did to the Indians. The conditions are so extreme; it is amazing that people can survive in such harsh condition. Every day of the Inuits live is a day of struggle. This book is heart-wrenching. Impressive book.

Times sure have changed from when I was a kid playing 11-v-11 soccer with a full sized goal... probably for the best. This book helps guide a new coach into the correct way of teaching soccer to children, so that they will enjoy it more. It takes you from preseason planning, through practices, games, first aid, and even dealing with refs and parents. This is the textbook for the ASEP Soccer Coaching certification.
