My favorite history book - its an eyeopening tour into all the aspects of American history that are often ignored - the history of America from the perspective of Native Americans, African Ammericans, Women, immigrants, etc. It is a complete rejection of the "Great Man" history so many are taught in school. While some may think history is boring, this book is not at all - its well written, engaging, and a real page-turner I think it should be required reading for everyone!

I really enjoyed this book even though I was rather disappointed with the ending. Overall, I thought the book was an entertaining sequel to the second book in the series, The Sea of Monsters. I thought the book was paced well and the growing element of romance between Percy and Annabeth added some fun twists in this book, but it still has enough action to keep a young boy entertained for hours on end. I think Riordan did an excellent job for this being such a widely anticipated book in the series. One of the things I thought Riordan did exceptionaly well was making you feel like you were right there alongside Percy and his companions throughout the book. However, I would have liked to see a bit better of a plot because at some points in the book it is often predictable. I thought the sentence fluency for the fights scenes made it seem like the words were just gliding off your tongue. Lastly, I would recommend this book for people who like Greek mythology and boys that are ages 10 to 13.
