Very much enjoyed this edition of P&P. I feel like quite a few interesting scenes or parts of scenes were left out in the last edition I read, of course it was abridged. I adore Miss Austen's style of writing, wit and story telling ability.

Terrific read. As with all of her novels, terrifyingly real. Jodi Picoult is a brilliant writer, intertwining so many stories around one central plot. Highly recommend this book.

I wanted very much to like this book. The summary, the reviews, made it sound like a book I would like; a book about women, getting together and discussing Jane Austen, living their lives and dealing with heartaches in between. Well, I did like it, just not very much. It's well-written, it's amuzing in parts, and I was very fond on the focus on politeness that all the women seemed to share. The focus on appearances and exteriors of kindness. It's not something you see much in books, or anywhere, these days. But the book didn't go deep enough. It's impossible to care deeply for six characters in only 250 pages. I was interested in Prudie, and I really liked Allegra, but the other women were almost caricatures. And the men--even the one man in the book club--are plot devices, romantic foils. Not complete in themselves. I wouldn't recommend this, but if someone were interested in the subject matter, I'd go ahead and tell them to give it a go.

My students and I really like this book!! It has basic information about the frog, how it hides from the predators, what frog eats, and when it sleeps. Beautiful real photographs compliment the story and make it more as an adventure into the world of Red-eyed frog.

It made me think. And that's high praise for a sermon, a song, or a book. It made me think. -Jamaica survived slavery and colonialism. Despite a black majority, Jamaica struggles with poverty, unemployment, fractured families, violence - many of the problems Burrell attributes to BI. -Chinese workers brought to the western US to build railroads were treated like slaves. Yet Chinese-Americans today seem to have overcome early racism. -Native Americans suffered violence, racism, break-ups of family through boarding schools, forced removal of culture, loss of heritage. Today Indian reservations are beset with poverty, substance abuse, and high unemployment. Burrell is against having separate categories for black achievement, yet wants to celebrate black achievement with new awards. Is that a contradiction? And what about this contradiction: dark skin and thick lips are undervalued in the black community, yet among whites, Angelina Jolie's thick lips are venerated. And whites go to tanning parlors and use skin-darkening lotion for a "healthy" look. This book would have benefitted from an index.

I definitely found this one hard to put down. Lots of twists and turns and things to keep you wondering, but tied together pretty well in the end. It has a bit of the Fatal Attraction over the top "What? There's more?" quality toward the end, and the ending drags on a bit after the thrill ride, but, over all, worthwhile.

Bu kitap çok şaşırtıcıydı. Ben denemek ve uyumaya gitmek için koydu sonra sadece onu aldı ve tekrar okumaya başlamak kadar sonra ne olacağını düşünüyorum. Kitabı bitirene kadar yaptım. Quigley'nin kafa karışıklığı ve arkadaşının "yardımı" harika bir hikaye anlatıyor.
