Noa Kuiper noakuiper42765 — Upon finishing this book, I have some mixed feelings about it. Let's start with it's good, strong points. I appreciated the fact that Patricia Briggs didn't come up with another fae story because it would be too tiring and wouldn't make any different impression than the previous fae related books in my opinion. It was interesting to see how she dealt with the Native American heritage of Mercy (although I got to admit the whole lineage tribe thing was a little boring). I especially loved how she created the different spirits. In addition, I liked how she wrote a bit more about Mercy's family ties with her existing non-supernatural family, because it gives you a different insight to the character. Now there were several weak points for me in this book, not that discouraging enough for me to abandon the series of course. First of all, I missed a lot all the secondary characters that surrounded Adam and Mercy in the previous books. Adam/Mercy ship or not it was also the other characters that gave the books the special ingredients for the plot. The new characters introduced were just a bit too many, too similar to not be easily distinguished and with none too great an impact. I think this deficiency also manifested in the "Evil" of this book which was another flesh eating monster that could possibly conquer the world. It's a bit disappointing because Briggs has showed in her previous books that she can write better than that and not copy an old recipie. To sum up, I still loooove the series and the universe but I'm expecting something more in her writing and plot after six books because there are still infinite possibilities for developing.

Ahmed Barakat _hoto_ — The melodrama. The horrible Becky. The satire. I love to hate this book. I loathe it. But I cheered for Dobbin when stupid Amelia finally came to her senses, and cheered when the horrid Becky was exposed and exiled. Loathing for the people and happenings is the point I think. Thackeray wanted us to feel disgust and loathing while reading this book. You know, since it's satire of a society with serious problems. He also meant for us to have a good time, and I did. Weird.

Conta Sete conta720943388 — What an awesome book! The first two were a little slow, with some great parts here and there, but this was the first that really struck gold. The level of detail in his writing, the great characters and awesome plot make this an amazing book! I cannot wait to get the next book, although I may have to wait since I probably won't be able to walk away from it till I'm done!
