Ibrahim Alshlili ideaibra — Finished up my re-read of the series. It was interesting to read them in order and in quick succession, as I notices slews of running characters and ideas that I hadn't noticed before, little reference L'Engle places in the story lovingly for those who are paying attention. This book had more Christian themes than I remembered. It's curious how L'Engle sees swirling wonder in the interconnectedness of the cosmos and loves druids and native medicine and fanciful supernatural characters but names Christ as the source of the glory. It made me want to know more of her theology: if she's in the New Cosmology camp, or her own brand, or what. I am extraordinarily intrigued by her theories on time and size, though -- of staying in the same place but traveling through When instead of Where. Hmm.

Technozay Seo technozay — A near perfect mix of police procedural and urban fantasy with just enough of each to keep the story fresh and entertaining. Good solid characters, nice simple world building, and a good voice that's funny and thrilling. If you're going through Dresden withdrawal, check out Midnight Riot. If you like urban fantasy (of the magical detective persuasion) but you don't like Jim Butcher, I think you'll love Ben Aaronvitch.
