Nayoon Choi nayoon — Let's just say the author earned his Pulitzer Prize. Perhaps the most revealing and important studies of the George W. Bush presidency.

Woodi Furniture _oodi_urniture — It was pretty hot and definately kept me entertained. Kind of shallow and contrived but did pass the time which was the idea.

Kaleen Mayhew _aleen_ayhew — Sixteen years later and Amy Parker was still very much in love with her best friend, Quinn Whitfield. The problem was he didn’t feel the same, and never did. Rather, he fell in love with their other best friend, Lisa when they were all in their tender age of fourteen. The same age she’d realized that she’s in love with Quinn. She had always felt like the third wheel when the two of them started dating. And to make it worse, Quinn and Lisa both gone off to college and when they graduated as lawyers, they got married and live in Sydney. She’d never tell a soul about her feelings and never in any way revealed it to Quinn for fear that had he known she would lose him. She thought she’d rather have him as her best friend in her life than not having the presence of Quinn in it. The story of her life! Until now, the memories of that summer when Lisa first told her that Quinn had kissed her when they were studying together still had had the power to hurt her. She still couldn’t understand and accept the fact that Quinn had chosen Lisa over her. My gosh, they practically grew up together, being neighbors all their lives. They swam together, skinned their knees together, more than brothers and sisters. The two of them were thick as thieves, best of friends. Until they turned fourteen and Lisa moved in their town that summer, everything has changed. She could still recall the time her two best friends were dating. She was happy for both of them but hurting at the same time wishing she was in Lisa’s place. And she died a thousand deaths the day they got married. It was the bleakest moment of her life. But she stood there in that church as their “Best Person” witnessing their vows to love and cherish each other, a smile plastered on her face, thwarting the tears that threatened to fall. But once she’s home, she was not able to hold back the heart-wrenching sobs she was holding off during the ceremony. And she felt pathetic, yearning and obsessing after her best friend. Now, she was trying to ease away from their lives. So, for eighteen months now she hadn’t tried to make contact with them. She had not answered e-mails and calls from both Lisa and Quinn and had not visited their home in Sydney, albeit gradually until such time all communication has stopped altogether. Which she thought was good since she didn’t want to spend her life hurting and pining for someone who would never feel the same way about her and was very much married. She just wished the time would come that she would only feel friendly feelings towards Quinn and he would be just that to her… Her Best Friend. Since Quinn had started hanging out with Amy at the Grand Theatre, helping her in the restoration process, he felt really alive. He hadn’t felt this happy in years, not since the separation anyway and probably way before that. He hasn’t told Amy yet about the split-up and that Lisa and he were at the final stages of their divorce. He couldn’t just surprise her with that information although since he’d learned of Lisa’s extra-marital affairs, he’s been thinking of Amy a lot. He’d missed their talks and the joy he would always feel when he’s with her. His best friend in the world. The one person who’s constant in his life and couldn’t afford to lose. He knew he couldn’t lose Amy or rather he’d always known he couldn’t. The fact that he’d suppressed his feelings for her when they were fourteen would convey the fact that he’d rather have her as best friend in his life than not having her at all. Although for a time he’d lusted so much after her and he’d had to remind himself that she was his best friend. And then Lisa came to the picture and the rest you would say was history. But now that they were spending so much time together, he couldn’t help but notice how beautiful and sexy she truly was. And even wondering what could have been like with the two of them. Just the thought of making love with her made him very aware of her sexually. This story was truly a joy to read. I’ve appreciated the gradual build-up of Quinn and Amy’s relationship in the story. How they became aware of each other sexually during their shared time together renovating the theatre. I like the angle of love triangle in the story line with the heroine being casted as the rival. And gosh, I guess I just loved the fact it was an “I’m-In-Love-With-My-Best-Friend” kind of story and I’m a sucker for them! LOL!

Mark Allen markdallen539e — A thorough journalistic account of the covert CIA overthrow of Jacobo Arbenz. Schlesinger and Kinzer's account originally published in 1982 holds up quite well in comparison to more recent analysis that benefits from the declassification of Department of Justice and CIA documents.

borbola
Victoria Borbola borbola — This tender tale of childhood innocence and the deep love between a boy and his grandparents should be a must-read classic. The author magically captures the bond between family, young and old, man, woods, and animals. Through some of life's greatest difficulties and "ugliness," Little Tree maintains his purity of heart and an appreciation of truly good things. The author's description of the backwoods is poetic and nearly muscial. The book is both humorous at times as well as being deeply moving. Friends of mine, this is a tough book to find at the library but we know someone with a copy that she may be willing to lend out. Your high-school level readers would find this a worthy book, as well.
