Vera Gorbunova ritihu — Emotional novel, more of a drama than a romance. Well written, quite sad at times.

Efrat Weiss efratweissf649 — This non-fiction book was about one person's attempt to live all of the commandments for an entire year. Before taking on this endeavor, he wasn't really much of a believer of God. Incidentally, after a year of "living the commandments" he still wasn't any closer to God than when he started. I thought he was a little ridiculous in his "commandment keeping." He focused on obscure ones like: not mixing wool with linen in his clothing; calling the days of the week by their ordinal numbers to avoid voicing the names of pagan gods; trying his hand at a 10-string harp; growing a beard; eating crickets; and paying the babysitter in cash at the end of each work day. I thought it was a little neurotic and foolish personally. I also thought it was a perfect example of living the "letter of the law" while entirely missing the "spirit of the law." I think if a person were to truly study the Bible for a year, he should come away with a better understanding and relationship with God. I feel sorry for him. I feel like he just wasted a year of his life in order to gather material to write a book. He missed the boat, in my opinion.

Janorius Masiali jaydamaged — This was a great story about a Germany womans experience in the holocaust. You will cry and smile and think about life. It is one of the best books I have every read!

Sun Xiaocha sunxiaocha — Enjoyed this book, probably because it was on the French side of the pond. Also, the hero & heroine are very likable. But there is a scene in it that is so very familiar that I am almost positive I have read it before, long ago. Anyone remember where it might be from? (spoilers for The Orchid Affair) The familiar scene is that the hero, who is an official in the revolutionary-era French police but is part of a counter-plot, must cover up for a fugitive and a heroine at the domicile of an arrested co-conspirator. Two police-men are there also to secure and search the place. The hero is about to send the policemen away to ket them escape when there is a noise. The heroine covers for the fugitive pretending to be a mistress was waiting there for the owner of the place.

Facundo Azuaga facundoazuaga — Keep in mind, I apparently read the "short version". I didn't know that there were two different lengths until after I read it, and I plan on reading the longer version later on. Until then though, this book is amazing. Like other classic french novels I've read, it's a slow start. But once you get to a certain place, you just want to know more and more and more and more...you get the picture. The characters were surprisingly interesting. When I hear that a story is "a classic tale of insert genre", I don't expect too much in the way of characterization (unless that's part of the description). However, I got into these characters and their struggles. I really wanted the good guys to survive and win, and those jerks who caused all this pain and suffering. One point for Dumas. Morally, there's no swearing as far as I can recall, but there is some violence and death. However, it's not really discussed in great detail so those who are squeamish have nothing to worry about. Then again, I read the shorter version, so who knows. Good: Classic tale of revenge, characters, descriptions, and this is only the short version! Bad: Takes a bit to build up. There is no excuse for anyone to not read any version of this book. I can't wait to read the longer version! EDIT: Read the full version, and it's even better and more indepth :D!
