Shelley Keywood sk_x — I had about a chapter and a half left and gave up. Living right here in the setting of the story, historically ,it rocks! However, I found it difficult to keep up with characters ... who went with who, etc. It was a really good, but sad book. Unfathomable to me, families being torn apart as they were in slave times, children from their parents, husbands and wives. Humanity is such a precious, precious thing and should always be treated as such.

Beatriz Mousinho beatrizmousinho — Not one of my favorites from Murakami......the sci-fi angle was a bit much for me. But the oddities that make Murakami one of my favorite authors were still abundant and made it a good read.

Hong Kyoung makbo4444 — Wilson's idea of the Outsider stems from a humanistic perspective that a certain type of man (and he focuses only on men) tries to see beyond the everyday experience of life. Using the works of Sartre, Camus, Hesse, and other late 19th and early 20th century authors, Wilson relates literature to philosophical conclusion. I read this book in high school and it is one of the books that I can say changed my life (if only in so far as it caused me to read the books by all the people mentioned in this book).
