Eugene Blissful _ugene_lissful — This is an extremely character-driven book; it's a little light on plot and takes a few chapters to warm up. Once it did, though, I found myself churning through it over the course of a couple of late nights. I picked it up so I could get the novel under my belt before seeing the DVD with my wife, and am somewhat surprised to find myself liking. But like it I did; in fact, I can easily see myself sampling at least one more book in the series. This is not a perfect book. I thought the male lead was a little too idealized; if he has flaws, I cannot recall one. And for a book that spends so much time on character development, the characters revealed are on the one-dimensional side. But none of this jumped out at me as I was reading it. Also, the author's take on vampires is somewhat novel, and I find myself wanting to know more about the backgrounds of the assorted vampires that have crossed my path. Since there are three more books in the series, I'm sure more on that score will be revealed. In all, a good read, and worthy of a look.

Cagatay San cagataysan — As much as I loved Wicked I hated Son of a Witch. I'm so glad that I only checked the book out of the library and did not buy it.

Ekin Göcen _etti_ue — This book has affected my life as a Christian since reading it. The life of Compassion is a journey to be more like Jesus! I love Nouwen's ability to condense insight and depth into simple ideas and thoughts. Everyone should read the chapter on displacement as they consider what it looks like to be part of a Christian community of any sort.
