林 韋辰 _ayne — Miri and the other girls in her village are forced to join an academy, from which the prince will choose his bride. Though certainly written to a child's level, this book is unique and surprising at every turn. Definitely worthy of the Newbery Honor it was awarded. (Review written 12/30/2007.)

Maria Ioannidou mariavioannidou3e51 — When she finds herself embroiled by scandal, an utterly ruined beauteous Linnet is packed off to Wales, to be the perfect bride for a beastly doctor. Piers is gruff and ill-tempered, caused by the pain of his crippled leg. But his defenses have nothing on Linnet's charming smiles. Linnet is a heroine who is utterly beautiful both inside and out. She is also quite amusing, even managing to get laughs out of Piers, who adamantly wants nothing to do with her. Piers himself is resigned to living in misery, so it takes a good long while for him to realize that happiness is an option for him. The last few chapters of the book were so heartrending and perfect, and really gave the two the happy ending they needed to get to.
