Angie Sanchez anglorenasceb4 — This one gets three stars (as opposed to vol.1's 5 and vol.2's 4 stars) b/c although i'm sure it was brilliant in all its ecentricities, it got to a point where I couldnt quite follow it anymore (and it was overdue at the library). But, at some point I'd like to try another stab at it.

Therese Pedro coffeedtea — This book takes the "work smarter not harder principle" and runs with it, expands it. The central premise is that there is likely a huge imbalance in the effectiveness of your actions (for example, 20% of what you do may be producing 80% of your results) and you should learn what that 20% is - what it tells you about what you are best suited to do - and double and triple down. There are a lot of chapters that discuss situations in businesses very different from what I do that weren't as engaging or as obviously useful as others and I don't know that I always enjoyed the author's writing style -- but I did find it a lot of food for thought. A lot of the concepts that were dealt with were a bit surprising and not the easiest to grasp --- and I don't know that the author necessarily did the best job of explaining. (For e.g. there's one chapter that says it's much better to be intelligent and lazy than intelligent and hardworking - but I finished the chapter not entirely sure what "intelligent and lazy" meant - though I guessed it might have to do with taking more time figuring out what is important and doing just that - rather than just taking action --- it probably said that somewhere actually - and it's pretty much the them of the book -- but I didn't feel like I had a clear picture of the kind of laziness he was talking about) Anyway, finished the book and now am just beginning to process. :)

Mohamed Mostafa mohamedmostafa91 — If you have any interest in Iran/revolution/women in Islamic countries: read it. I read Lipstick Jihad and Reading Lolita in Tehran first -- very readable memoirs that give good historical context for Persepolis, if you want a how-we-live context vs. a deeply political/ideological context. Anyway -- Persepolis fleshes it out visually -- I probably would have been lost w/o reading the other 2 first, but I LOVED this. Super quick read (1 day/maybe 2), and worth the time.

Ayda Gebray aydagebray — Pure fluff. Not much substance, ideal for reading on the beach or on the plane.

Tenpura Ninja tenpuraninja — J.L. Bourne has done it again. The sequel to Day by Day Armageddon picks up with our hero in an underground military base when a distress call from an army squad trapped near the city leads him back into the fray. Bourne does an excellent job of amping up the difficulty for his protagonist in this one, forcing him out of the comfort of a base and again exploring the thrill of survival out in the zombie wasteland. In the process, Bourne introduces stronger zombies in larger numbers, some demented survivors, and a secret organization that has a very strange motivation at keeping him alive. Bourne’s knowledge of cutting edge weapons, military tactics and overall survival basics makes him the perfect author for this story. He ramps up the weaponry, but also the stakes as he finds a way to increase the threat from both living and undead to make our hero’s life even harder than last time.The end of the book sets up the next installment with great anticipation as we discover the origin of the zombie plague and the trial our hero will have to endure to help find the cure.
