4 ½ Stars This review is also published at http://thebookaholiccat.com Kiss of Snow is book ten (I can’t believe is already book 10) of the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh. Since the Lauren family’s defection from the Psy Net the SnowDancer wolf pack has offer them refuge and protection. From the moment Sienna Lauren laid eyes on the alpha of the pack, Hawke, she felt an immediately attraction and connection with him, Hawke felt it too; but Sienna was just a young teenager, not a match or a prospect for man like Hawke. Years have passed and their attraction hasn’t change. The difference in age is still present and the frustration for not acting upon it is growing with an alarming increment. Everyday that passes Hawke is becoming more irascible and jealous and Sienna is acting out as a result of this neglection. Sienna wants Hawke to see her as the woman she has grown to be and needs him to make his mind, to make her his or to let her go. She cannot continue living not knowing what to expect from him. Hawke wants to act upon her feelings but he is afraid of loving her. His mate died at a very young age and he thinks he doesn’t have much left to offer Sienna. Psy council is crumbing, a war is forming on the horizon and the packs are going to be in the middle of all the chaos. Now they need to be more prepared than ever, acting as a whole unit to be able to defect what is coming their way. Kiss of Snow was one of my most anticipated books of this year. I was literally counting the days for its release and it didn’t disappoint me. I felt in love with Hawke since the first time he made an appearance in this series. While I was waiting patiently for his story to come my love for him grew book by book. I wanted him so badly to have his HEA but I was a little bit afraid of Sienna as his heroine, not because she wasn’t interesting or strong enough, but because of her age. I didn’t know how Mrs. Singh was going to pull it off for them to work together and was a little bit apprehensive of the idea, but after reading Kiss of Snow all my misgivings were laid to rest. Mrs. Singh did a spectacular job with the development of the characters and now I think Sienna is the perfect mate for Hawke, just the kind of woman he needed. Talking about Sienna she was so stubbornly strong, don’t take me wrong, it was in a good way, she needed to be like that; getting what she wanted from Hawke was not an easy task but she was determined and didn’t want to settle for less than what she deserved. The story behind her is a heart breaking one and knowing she survived it with her innocence intact and with fire in her heart proves us what kind of woman our loving alpha is getting settle with. Hawke, Hawke, Hawke, where can I start? He beautiful, he is sexy, he is strong, he is loyal, he is sex on a stick. He is a man/wolf with a big heart but with many scars in it. We learn about his past, his family, his child mate. He is a strong alpha but at the same time he is a man afraid to love, afraid of feeling too much and getting hurt. Sienna and Hawke’s relationship felt right. I loved how Hawke was patient with Sienna and gave her the time she needed it, but at the same time I loved his possessiveness. The tension between this two was building page by page but every time things were going to go a little bit further something was happening, the phone was ringing, there was a knock at the door or something like that, preventing and distracting them from their “task” at hand. It happened so much, that it felt a little bit too much. I was almost screaming at the book “enough” don’t answer the phone or the door, let the world collapse around you but don’t stop. Another character who played a big role was Sienna’s uncle Walker Lauren. In this book we see another side of him. He is the pillar of the family, the one who kept them sane and his strength was what helped them escape. We also learn more from him and his life in Silence up to the moment of their defection. A secondary romance occurs between him and Lara, the healer of the pack. Their romance was very sweet, and after learning Walker story I was very glad he got his HEA. This little romance was also a nice addition to the plot. Another character I loved in this book was Sienna’s little brother Toby. He is a very lovely little guy. I loved his connection with Sienna. He may be just a little child but he has the fortitude of an adult. One of my favorite scenes in the book was between him and Hawke, it was really too cute for words. Sasha and Lucas also played an important part with their little addition to their family. Lucas is still the over protective Alpha but this time there are more reasons to be like that. I have always had my doubts about Nikita and “her Silence” and this book proved my suspicious right. I really liked her and my heart aches for her. We also see other characters from previous books, from the mated couples to the single ones and young ones we love. Kiss of Snow was what I was expecting it to be and more. As always Mrs. Singh writing had me glued to its pages from beginning to end. Kiss of Snow is a great addition to this series. I recommend this book to all Paranormal Romance readers. It can be read as a stand alone but there is so much history and build up between the characters and their world that it will be almost a sacrilege to read it like that.

Light entertaining read. Great info on how a small town newspaper operates. Figured out the ending about 15 pages before he told us. Husband really enjoyed it.

Book # 10 of 2010 This edition kind of made me want to beat my head against the wall. There was so many bells and whistles going off that "something" was going to happen that it wasn't even really suspensful, which was just kind of annoying. I think I'm liking Eric more and more...

So this book is split into three different sections... The first one was okay, I really like the second one, and I didn't like the third one at all... so, in the mathematical scene in my head, that equals two stars. By the end, I just didn't care. There were very funny parts, I'll give it that, but not enough humor to keep me interested.

Browsing over some other reviews for this book, I see that the author is apparently an actual string-theory expert. So, like, an actual scientist. Unfortunately, you'd never know it from this book. If the author's ideas have any Real Science behind them, they are hopelessly lost somewhere in translation. I'm a lover of hard sci fi, so I'm used to having new and invented terms thrown at me, and I am entirely capable of putting things together by way of inference. The Quantum Thief, however, has so much invented vocabulary that it becomes impossible to put anything together. It was clear to me that, while most of the book was set on Mars (or an invented Mars), there were bigger galactic forces at work. One was called Sobornost and the other was... the zoku? I think. Okay, so there's the Sobornost, the zoku, pellegrinis, tzaddiks, gogols, gogol pirates, Archons, and Quiet, and - well, you get the point. Good luck figuring out who is connected to what, especially when the scant information you get about them is riddled with q-dots and gevulots and - well, again, you get the point. I feel like a huge amount of world-building went into the plotting of this book, but all that made it into the text itself was these invented terms. This book is still getting two stars because even with all the confusion there were a ton of very interesting and fun ideas. I enjoyed the world that I could make sense of, and for the first few chapters I enjoyed playing along. But with a book like this, there is an expectation that you put up with confusion for a while because it will result in a nice payoff - which The Quantum Thief just didn't deliver. I almost gave it three stars, except that the characters, who started out decently if a bit cardboard, completely disintegrated at the end. I won't bother going into that mess. Overall, I felt like I started with a good solid book in my hands, but every time I turned a page it fell apart just a little more, until at the end I was left with a handful of pulp.

I found the book funny and slightly entertaining, but it left a lot to be desired. This is one book where I am guessing the movie is better!

Another great reference for you, if you are researching or interested in the former Presidents of the United States. This book covers the main events that happened during the President's term, their election, and a brief biography of each President.

I love the whole "Gideon Oliver" series, but this is probably my favorite. It seems even more rich with history and anthropology than his other books. I like being able to learn something while reading a novel, and you can always count on Aaron Elkins for that. In this series, I also love the geeky protagonist, a forensic anthropologist nicknamed "the skeleton detective." The supporting characters, his wife Julie and his detective-friend John Lau, also add a lot to the series, although they make only brief appearances in this novel. The friendship between Gideon and John is particularly interesting to watch as it develops from one book to the next. The short conversation between them at the end of this novel shows something about the level of trust between them.
