This was my first Shakespeare. The story is tragic as are most Shakespeare stories. It's also my first graphic novel. (As a child, we called these comic books). I have trouble reading shakespeare because you aren't reading a novel, but a play. The symatics of "character A walks to spot X and says..." is so confusing, I lose the plot. I didn't have that problem with the graphic novel, and there are even lil dashed lines that swirl around the page telling you in which direction to read the speech bubbles. The graphics help in telling the story. The shakespearean speech is still difficult to decifer, and the story was still confusing, but all in all not a bad way to have read Shakespeare.

Intriguing idea presented. When we die, we exist in an in-between world, where we exist until the last person who remembers us dies. Only *then are we truly dead. Makes me think of all the people whose lives I've touched in some way, and in what way I touched them. What each person brings to this life is remembered by others, often without us knowing about it.

I need to re-read this novel because I remember thinking it was sooo good and I subsequently loaned it to various family members. As I recall, the husband meets his future wife when she's a child and he's an adult - because he's a time traveler!

I really liked this one. I don't enjoy wine, so the huge role that wine played in the story was just ok for me. The ending was just ok for me, too, but the rest of the story was awesome. Great jokes and dialog. Very good!

*Reaction to when I read this as a freshman in high school* After my second read-through of the novel (some parts independently and some parts at school) I've really realized just how amazing this book is. I actually got teary-eyed quite a few times. Lee infuses tremendous writing technique with a story so real, raw, and damaging that it just left me irreversibly changed. There is no question why schools teach lessons with this novel; it's just... amazing. My heart is still aching and rooting for the characters in this novel as well, they will stay with me for a long time. *A year later, as a sophomore* Absolutely riveting. One of my favorite classics.

If you think he's the greatest SecDef ever, read the same books with a skeptical eye. Given the controversy over the man, people should be willing to hear more than the "Daily Show" abriged version of our recent history.
