Heartbreaking. The plight of those at the bottom of society is so hopeless. Not only do they have very limited economic resources, but they are also more likely to experience many different forms of abuse. The author researched at three DC area shelters over several years and was able to tell they story of the shelter's inhabitants. One interesting part was the follow up with the women years later. The lucky ones were in subsidized housing. The author shows a fair portrayal of the women, how personal decisions and social factors both contributed to their homelessness.

A friend texted me about this book and I thought, "Sure, I'll check it out." When I bought the book, O thought the cover was cool, I thought at first that it was the same girl in different personalities, but when I read the book... I never thought it would have a great story. I love the whole 'Hecate Hall" stuff, even though it's a reform school for pandemonium troublemakers:P Not to mention, the dak and handsome Archer Cross had totally swept me off my feet :P I cannot wait for the next installment!

I would give this 4 1/2 stars. A very interesting look at what few Americans care to remember about the Japanese camps. Comes together in the end nicely, but I thought the ending was a little choppy.

Love~! Will's mind is always interesting. Except, I can't understand where he is coming from at some points. I think to not give away spoilers, the way he was feeling wasn't fully explained. Merged review: This makes me wish it actually was a brothel! It would have made the story so much more exciting lol But I guess it wouldn't explain why Will pulled her out of there in the first place. Merged review: This gets a whole star just because it seems to be mostly what Jem is thinking. :) This was great because we get a little more of a glimpse into Will's past, and we get to know how both of the boys feel about the topic of love. The easy conversation between the boys is really realistic. I could read a whole book about just these two. They're so interesting together! Merged review: I just realized I never wrote a review for this book! I'm sure I wrote it and then somehow it didn't save. I'll just have to reread the book and then write my review :) I remember I loved it though! This review is written after reading the book for the second time. I'm really glad I decided to read this book again because I realized so much more the second time through! First, the Infernal Devices is SO much like The Mortal Instruments. Supposed love triangle, the heroine finding out she's not who she thought she was, a jerk of a love interest and the shadow hunter world. When I first read this book this is what I thought about it: - amazing! - I HATED Will. Asshole. - *loved* Jem :) - The story was kinda unpredictable - the ending took me by surprise After reading it again, I came to these conclusions: - I like Will more. He's still a huge ass, but he's tolerable. Clare better have a good reason for making him this way. But I can't imagine what would be worse than what Jem's gone through, and he's not like Will at all. - I'm more in love with Jem. I mean seriously, he's the boy I would pick, especially for Tessa. She seems too sweet to put up with someone like Will. - I hate to say this, but there is no love triangle. Tessa isn't into Jem at all :{ All her thoughts are Will, Will, Will. No Jem and it breaks my heart. Jem likes Tessa, but Tessa doesn't see anything more in Jem. It's just him trying to win her affection. - There was too much detail in some parts. Got boring to read those parts. There are still a lot of questions left unanswered like: What is Tessa? What happened to the villain? What is the villain exactly? There are more too but they would be too much of a spoiler to ask. Will definitely be reading the next book, but I really hope Tessa uses her head. Bad things happen to people but giving an excuse to be a dick is going to be pretty tough. After reading it a second time I would probably only give it a 4 star, but I'm going to stick with the original 5 because I'd hate to change it.

Tahun lepas, tahun aku kenal Leo Tolstoy, mencari tulisan beliau. Aku pernah baca tulisan beliau, dengan ungkapan, "Tuhan tahu tapi menunggu". Buku Haji Murat dibeli semasa DBP mengadakan jualan murah, "Penghabisan Stok" di UKM. Ya penghabisan stok, namun buku ini, diskaun 10% je pun.. Diterjamah Victor Pogadaev, pensyarah UM, orang Rusia dan banyak lagi karya yang diterjemahnya. Pogadaev aktif dalam mempertahankan budaya dan adat Melayu ya. Saya ulang, aktif mempertahankan budaya dan adat Melayu dan secara tak langsung bangsa itu sendiri. Haji Murat, seorang pejuang Islam yang dahagakan kejayaan. Kejayaan melihat puak beliau bebas, dari dibelenggu puak pelampau(bahasa sekarang). Ingin bergabung dengan kerajaan Rusia. Namun gagal. Seorang Muslim yang taat kepada Tuhan, pemimpin yang saksama dan ketua keluarga yang bertanggungjawab. Sentuhan Leo Tolstoy membuatkan pembaca pernah berada ditempat yang digambarkan, walaupun pembaca tidak pernah terbayang. Huraian yang terperinci adalah kekuatan tulisan beliau. Malas pulak tulis panjang-panjang. Beli sendiri dan baca. Tapi, Tuhan tahu tapi menunggu hanyalah cerpen, namun tulisan tersebut hebat!

Firelight. Where to start! Jacinda is a draki. Descendents from dragons. She is also the first fire-breather in generations. Which makes her very special and important to her draki bretherans. They also want to rule her life. The story starts off fast and straight into actions. Jacinda and her friend, Az are breaking the rules by flying on the outside of the safety zone. Almost costing their lives. Hunters are after draki and all the amazing money within thier bones, blood, and whatever else. While she is hiding and wounded from the Hunters, Jacinda meets Will. This amazing gorgeous guy who doesn't turn her in, in fact he lets her go. When Jacinda finally gets away her mom takes her from the "Pride" (Where draki are safe and hidden from the world) and into the real world. This is where all the crazy shit takes place. I really liked this story. Very original. I also love the fact about the whole draki/dragons thing. I thought I would not like it at first and then the story took me away. I could not put it down. Now, of course there were some things where I wish the author would have added more. Like Jacinda's relationship with her Dad, or Az. I wish she would have kind of had Jacinda think of a few more memories with them, or have Jacinda think "Hmmm, I wonder if Az ever got punished for flying with me that day?" It would have made a lot more sense if Az anf Jacinda were really that close like she later described in the book. I just think adding those memories with those selected characters would have made me feel more for Jacinda's dad, and supposedly best friend. Over all: I loved EVERYTHING about this book. The characters were amazing, the story was original and amazing. I don't see where people were mad about soemthing about dragons and wolves. I don't see where those people made that connection. I will definitely read the second book when it comes out later this year!!!! :D Book Cover: A++++ (I am a sucker for red hair. It just so pretty<3)
