I don't know why I'm always so surprised when the greats of the faith turn out to be human, but I am. This is a good introductory biography, although it seems to be a stepping stone to more in-depth books about Lewis' life. I think I may work on his autobiography, "Surprised by Joy" next.

I am a huge history fan, I especially love books that are not only about history, but are true accounts and have actual words from the people of that time. This book was a little long at times, however I feel that it had to be done because of all the information the author had. A great read for a cold winter, or should I say spring day.

A very good book, and through much it is captivating. I do believe she beats the living snot out of a dead horse. It is a very interesting in theory, and truly an interesting read and will make you think. It may paint with too broad a brush at times though, and at the extremes terribly misses that people don't always fall into 1 of 2 categories as it seems she wants to paint them into. (Looter vs Hero/Builder) Definately have to take into account the time this was written with the cold war on. Still it is well worth the read. What drives you? What are your true motivations? There are some quite thought provoking theories that will hit home and do make a lot of sense, and yet it also is driven at a fairly fast pace, almost a thriller at times. As for Plot... I don't think I will get into that. I suggest you read for yourself.

I always enjoy reading/listening to Suzanne Brockmann books. This book brings Jules Cassidy and Robin Chadwick to the fore; and it's a great start to their story. And I have to say that I enjoy their story more than the one with Jane and Cosmo; although I love the fact that Jane insists on telling the story of the real life hero. There are also some great touches which contrast the world of Hollywood with real life drama. Great fun!

my oldest brother gave me this book as a birthday present when i was a senior in high school, and i couldn't sleep soundly for months afterwards. seriously, i felt like a scared toddler shaking in diapers after reading this story called "The Xi Effect," in which all the light in the world goes out. it's hard for me to judge this book on a scale measuring how much i liked it, because all i remember is being utterly terrified.

The strange, hollow voice in this book is absolutely amazing. It's narrated by 18 year old Merricat, though she seems even younger. She has these flights of whimsy undercut by an obsession with death, with the threat of violence and murder. It's complete amorality crossed with complete innocence, and the glimpses we get into Merricat's logic is absolutely..."I was chilled," as she'd put it. Anyway, I liked it. And the cover art is pretty.
