A little disappointing. The plot didn't hold together, the beginning was slow, and there was little new character development from the first book. Not that this is keeping me from reading the third (and final) book in the series, of course!

Kelsey is 18 year old girl fresh out of high school. She lives with her foster parents because her parents died a few years earlier. Kelsey has a strong sense on look on the bright-side and to always look forward, so when she graduates high school she knows she needs a summer job to help pay for college. When she gets a two week job at a family owned circus she immediately feels drawn to the white tiger that they have. She grows attached to this tiger, and connects wit it like she can't connect with others her own age. Kelsey spends most of her time at the circus reading to the tiger, and just being with him. So when a man comes to the circus and buys the tiger and asks her to help him transport it back to India she jumps at the chance. But when she is in India she discovers that her tiger is actually a 300 year old Indian prince. Ren has been cursed for over 300 years to be a tiger throughout the day, an is only allotted 24 minutes each day to be human. He and his brother were both cursed by a neighboring ruler, this ruler wanted both the boys pieces of a ancient something. Ren has spent the better part of his 300 years being in captivity and he has not been able to change at all. This changes when he meets Kelsey, for the first time he is able to turn back to human form, and is given hope the Kelsey might be the one girl to break his curse. Kelsey was a nice girl who had an immense amount of empathy. I don't think she reacted strongly enough when she discovered that Ren was not just a tiger but a man too. She took it all in stride, but what really made me mad about her was that she felt she knew what was best for everyone. As I'm sure you've guessed these two develop feelings for each other but Kelsey pushes away. She decided that after a while Ren would tire of her, because he didn't know what else was out there. Ren never gave this impression and did everything to the contrary of what Kelsey feared would happen but she still pushed him away. I felt that she hurt him and herself unnecessarily. This book would be a great book for teens,and it was definitely and interesting story and I will continue to see what happens.

This chapter of the Black Dagger brotherhood picks up where Lover Eternal leaves off and explores the relationship between Zsadist and Bella. The backstory of the events that have formed Zsadist's anger-filled and antisocial personality are interspersed with the travails facing the blossoming relationship between Bella and himself. The mystery of Phury's missing leg is solved and John, the youngster introduced in "Lover Eternal", begins to adapt to his heritage. Another nice addition to the Black Dagger tales.

4.5 Stars. I LOVED IT!!!! Now on to #5. Thanks to all my friends here that gave this a rec and the push to read out of order. I don't even like historical bks and seeing as this one was a semi-historical it worked for me.

This is one of the books that really sticks out of my mind from my tenth grade English class. This was the year that we were supposed to read "coming of age" stories and this was the only autobiographical account we read. This was also the first time that a high school teacher said we could call him by his first name, Steve. Well ok Mr. Harloff, what ever you say! I just really couldn't get into that one. In fact, when I see teachers that I haven't had for 10 years I still can't call them by their first names. But that is another story for a different day. Hunger of Memory sticks out in my mind because I remember it made me really take note of Affirmative Action, a concept I had barely ever given attention to. The author, a Catholic Latino born to immigrant parents grows up loving to read and eventually the quality of his schoolwork, and the open quotas for minorities, leads him to college. His interaction with his fellow minority students are usually sad, in that they are mainly spent with him tutoring them because most seem to be filling a quota for color instead of scholarly prowess. This book makes a big deal out of reform of k-12 educational systems for minorites. Sadest of all is the fact that Richard Rodriguez's education and assimilation into Academia seem to drive a wedge into his family - a family that both seems to support his education and be fearful of academia at the same time. Now, it has been almost ten years since I read this book and many things could seem different if I read it today. In fact maybe I will!....cue the Reading Rainbow music!

hervé le tellier's fiction, like that of his oulipo brethren, is based on the use of literary constraint. of the french writer's three works yet translated into english, enough about love most closely resembles a proper novel. with abundant charm, le tellier relates the lives of four individuals encumbered by a middle-aged malcontentedness that yields easily to amorous, extramarital activity. while le tellier never explicitly states the constraints employed in the work's construction, one of his characters, himself an author, outlines his own idea for a book that mirrors the format of enough about love: yves wants to write a novel around six characters. he will associate each of them with the numbers on dominoes, with the blank applying to a secondary character, though never the same one. the novel will reproduce the trajectory of a game of abkhazian dominoes: every double played will give rise to a chapter with just one character, a tile with two different numbers to a chapter with two characters, very occasionally three if one of them says and does nothing... yves's novel will be called abkhazian dominoes, but nothing about its structure will be explained to the reader. particularly as yves ends up never entirely respecting his own rules. we are thus treated to a glimpse of le tellier's methods, espying the scaffolding upon which the book was built. later on, as we follow the ensuing doubts and double dealings, the games are brought to a head as the characters are faced with decisions affecting more than their mere love lives. enough about love is an alluring story, despite its few forays into pedestrian philosophizing about the nature of romance and relationships. le tellier is an imaginative writer, and his works are often intriguingly composed. as each of his three books available in english differ so greatly from one another, any new le tellier translation would be a welcomed gift to readers, as one never really quite knows what to expect from the frenchman's books, save, of course, for abundant creativity and charm. i measure the scope of your declaration. it's not the emergency itself you're talking about here, but the requirement for truthfulness that emergencies demand of us. all at once i grasp for something else, between the lines: that, with me, you would leave the serenity of an illusory eternity where your days are not counted, for an unreliable world in which they are. illness would finally launch you into that world where time actually passes. i understand what it is that i give you, it's being afraid.

Short, entertaining, quick read. Kind of similar to some of Douglas Adams books. A mixture of humor, science fiction and detective fiction written by one of the original writers for The Simpsons. I'm pretty sure this book is self-published, and it's a little expensive for what it is, but it's definitely an entertaining read. Very enjoyable.
