this is a very long book filled with facts and personal memories. i read certain sections and skimmed a lot but it was interesting and informative. i think if you are young and want a career in politics this is a must read. he shows how important friends and alliances are to the process and how your message needs to stay on track. in the epilogue bill states 'I wrote this book to tell my story and to tell the story of america in the last half of the twentieth century.' i found this to be a very accurate description of the book. i also found myself flagging pages ...history does repeat itself in foreign policy, fiscal ups and downs, learning as we mature. its unfortunate it takes us all , both on a personal level and as a country , to move on to a better space.

I picked this book up at the library because of the cat and the witch on the cover. It's my first Lucy Stone book, and I had no idea that I was starting with book #16. I never felt like I'd missed something by not reading the others first, and I found the book interesting. There were references to Wicca that I didn't understand, and never came across the meaning in the book, that's a little irritating. Overall, an enjoyable read.
