This is a short 9-chapter picture book about spring. It was pretty silly. I love the clever names for each of the animals.

Quinton Murphy knows what he likes and what he likes is Ashley Miles, May's best friend. But Ashley is willful, stubborn and has a plan for her life. She works hard and he knows he doesn't factor into her future. Good thing he's as stubborn as she is because he wants her in his life and he is going to make her realize that she can have her future and he can be a part of it. But he's not counting on how protective she is going to be of her heart. He knows she is hiding something from him and he will do what he must to find out what it is...he doesn't scare easily and Ashley is worth it. I read the previous book "Jude's Law" last year and was excited to get to read this and continue the story started. A really great read.

Short stories are the best thing for short attention spans. Everything wonderful about Vonnegut written on the back of his books is true. His introduction is sharp.

This is an early work of Hauerwas' (early 80s) which draws heavily from the moral philosophy of Alisdair MacIntyre and the social ethics of John Howard Yoder. Here, he depicts the task of Christian ethics in terms of the particularity of the community of faith, moving away from foundationalst axioms/universals/etc. and toward a communal understanding of the "good" and the "true". While this certainly leaves the reader feeling quite uneasy, I can't help but resonate with Hauerwas' thoughts. He wants to say (and, I think, rightly so) that "goodness" is a contingent category. That is to say, we cannot understand goodness as an ideal set of right or wrong actions, positions, etc. that universally appeals to the consciences of all people. Instead, he argues that the Church is the community wherein right knowing and true goodness can exist, not by virtue of its superior rationality, but instead by virtue of its association with the Truth, that is Jesus. Goodness is not a category that makes sense outside of the Church's accordance with the Triune God manifest in the life of Christ. It is a relational, communal set of virtues. Readers may be frustrated by the lack of clear lines of argumentation, namely because this book is a presentation of his position rather than a thorough defence of it. As such, Hauerwas' emphasis on peaceableness as the governing virtue of the Church or the unsubstantiated appeals to narrative left me feeling like I really needed to sit down with him to hash out these ideas.

So so interesting! Brings together statistics, sociology and psychology of choices to bear light on the bigger picture. Will really make you think differently about everyday choices you make and see... I love this stuff! Half the book is composed of examples, which you may or may not find interesting.

I read a lot of horror novels when I was 12. This was one of them. I read it before I saw the movie and the movie still scared the crap out of me.

Good book, a bit different than the other Murakami novels I've read. Weaves an interesting tale of the challenges young adults face when they're transitioning from a teenager to an adult. Murakami has an exceptional gift for describing feelings and in this book he uses his talents masterfully.

It was my first so-called adult book I read. I felt very mature.
