This book is a tough read. Imagine Jacyee Dugard's story written from the perspective of a 5 year old child who has never been out of the room where he was born, his mother being a captive of a sociopath. Despite being inspired by sensational stories, this book isn't "sensationalistic" in tone. It is a book that grabs you and won't let you go. You will be up at night wanting to finish this book through to the end. Written from the perspective of a child, we see things differently and from a unique perspective. The choice of a small child as the main voice is what sets this book apart from being sensationalistic in style. I'm not going to give any spoilers here. This isn't a "fun" read but it is a very engaging read that grabs you from the first pages and won't let go. You'll be thinking about this book for days after finishing it. Not for the faint of heart though. If this were a movie, the rating would be PG-13. Use that as your litmus test for squeamishness. But definately consider this one. I'll be curious to hear what you think of it.

This was hard slog and very challenging at times. I completed in 13 1/2 months and I would do it again because of the growth I've gained. Life changing. I will do the NIV next time. I found Charles Stanley religious at times. However, I read this using David Guzik's commentary (www.enduring word.com) on some parts and it was amazing.

The story was very intriguing but not told in the best fashion. The beginning was great, then the middle dragged, then the end was a lot of repetition of the earlier parts of the book. This wasn't surprising though as the author is a scientist, not a writer. Worth checking out.
